Product description

Upper - ClimashieldTM fast drying protection The Salomon Speedcross 3 Trail Running Shoe combines a lightweight, anti-debris mesh upper. Built with ClimashieldTM protection, it provides breathable and fast drying weather protection. The bonded Sensifit construction overlaps the top part of the shoe with a water resistant fabric providing protection against the elements. Water shield protection across the tongue and toe sections provide additional water resistance without sacrificing breathability. The Speedcross 3 features a wider heel across the sole area than previous versions, creating a greater contact surface which is altogether more stable. In addition, the Quicklace slider has been reduced in size, as has the 'garage' pocket, meaning that weight is significantly reduced and stowage is more compact. Midsole - Lower to the ground The Speedcross 3 benefits from a lightweight injected EVA midsole, which is supported by Solomons Lightweight Muscle and molded EVA, which gives better underfoot cushioning and foot protection. The forefoot has been reduced by up to 50 percent, meaning that the wearer's foot is lower to the ground and therefore more likely to gain a better purchase, thereby reducing the chances of twisting the ankle. Outsole - Softer, harder and more grip The outsole utilises a blend of softer, harder and grippier Contagrip® compounds to yield the perfect mix of performance and durability. The aggressively appointed outsole tread featuring deep chevron shaped lugs provides an equal blend of comfort and grip in wet, sloppy trail conditions. The increased outsole durability and lower heel all work in concert to accommodate a more robust, stable ride.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality shoes but mine seem a little narrow 25 Sept. 2016

I read a ton of reviews about these shoes running large and I had the opposite experience. I ordered a 10, which is my normal size in practically every shoe I own. I ended up ordering a 10.5 because the 10 felt a little snug, especially in the toebox. I think the snugness is because they are more narrow in the toebox....I don't own any wide or narrow shoes and think my foot is pretty average width. I am keeping the 10.5s because they seem well made, have great support, and should be versatile for hiking in snow and running on trails.
5.0 out of 5 stars I felt like my toes were a bit close to the end ... 12 Sept. 2016

I read a lot of reviews before ordering this shoe. Some people are saying that the fit is normal. Many others are saying that the shoe runs big and to order down. I did get a chance to try the shoes on at a local store. I normally wear a size 8 1/2 or 9...leaning more to the size 9. I tried the 8 1/2 on in the store. I felt like my toes were a bit close to the end of the shoe for real trail running / hiking. Since the store didn't have them in size 9, I took a chance and went ahead and ordered them in a 9 from Amazon. The size 9 fits PERFECTLY. So in my humble opinion, they fit true to size.

I found the Solomons to feel great right out of the box. I wore them race-walking on a gnarly gravel road for the fist time and they were GREAT...no break in time needed. Although I feel that they are pretty pricey....they seem to be worth it!
5.0 out of 5 stars Was recommended to me, and now, by me 25 July 2016

My friend had recommended these to me so I was taking a chance by ordering online and never trying them on but they turned out better than expected. They fit like a glove and the first time I wore them I had no blisters. Since then, I have hiked nearly 20 miles with still no blisters, so there was no "breaking in" that had to be done. Definitely recommend these!
2.0 out of 5 stars Not durable! 20 Sept. 2016

I had very high hopes for these shoes! I read reviews extensively and they were largely positive. When I tried them on they were extremely comfortable. However, 1 day into a 21 day through hike, the treads on the sole of the shoe already looked worn down and a few of them were starting to peel off. By 5 days into the trip all treads around the edges of the soles were worn off and I could feel each and every stone under my foot with each step. By a week in, I was hobbling into camp at night and trying to rest/walk as little as possible before the morning came around and I've have to do it again. For such expensive shoes I really expected them to be durable -- or at least to last longer than a week! Sadly this is my first and last pair of Salomon's.
5.0 out of 5 stars best hiking shoe out there 3 Mar. 2016

I bought these shoes to replace my worn out speedcrosses and they do not disappoint. Lightweight and the perfect shoe for a hike. I wouldn't wear these just around town because of the ridiculous amount of tread, but I can handle any trail with ease. I appreciate that they are completely enclosed keeping my feed dry through the mud and creeks, but that also means they aren't quite as breathable. For that reason, I only wear them in the colder months. As for sizing, I think they run true to what I experience with salomons. In NB, brooks, ascics I typically wear a 10.5 and I got these in a 9.5 and they fit perfect.
