Product Description

The protean Greek author Nikos Kazantzakis retells the story of the most beloved of saints - Francis of Assisi, who permanently changed the way people think about following God. Drawing on the traditional stories of the saint's life, Kazantzakis infuses the tale with a fervent vision that is uniquely his own, highlighting the saint's heroic single-mindedness in the face of extreme physical and spiritual suffering. He portrays the saint as a great lover and inspiring leader who embraced radical poverty in the face of many obstacles and temptations while achieving a way of life marked by epic generosity.

Format: Hardcover
The reader is provided with a journal of Saint Francis'quest to find god. One becomes a traveller on this journey through the poignant narration of Nikos Kazantakis, ie. "And all of my joys and sorrows of life became like birds singing." One becomes transfixed and engrossed in the burning desire Saint Francis has for emulating Jesus. Anyone who is on a spiritual pathway and seeking advanced spirituality must read this book. It is also a must for all of the readers of Dr. Wayne W. Dyer's work. He has the same reverence for Saint Francis that Saint Francis had for Jesus. His book There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem is based on the prayer of Saint Francis. Dr. Carol Lynch

This was a captivating book. Probably because Francis led a captivating life, doing nothing half-heartedly. Kazantzakis writes a very fluid narrative, which I very much enjoyed. I am now on my second reading of the book. I have also read G K Chesterton's biography of St Francis which is not nearly as enjoyable as this one. Thoroughly recommended.
