Product description
Product Description
The Sagemcom F@ST PLUG 502W Powerline Wi-Fi Extender is designed to work with any service provider to make sure everyone can make the most of their broadband around their home. Extend the range of your Wi-Fi around your home and enjoy the full broadband experience meaning Wi-Fi cold spots are a thing of the past. Easy set up - No install neccessary, just plug into one of your mains wall power sockets and connect to your existing PLC network, and create a WiFi coverage around your home.
There are also two Ethernet ports on the base of the plug, so you could also choose to connect via a cable to a device such as a Smart TV or printer. Say for example you position this plug behind your television - creating an WiFi bubble there from your existing PLC network to wirelessly service a tablet or laptop, you could then also physically connect a cable to a device such as a games console AND a Smart TV for maximising your connection speed.
Ideal for connection of Smartphones or tablets all around the house and streaming, gaming, TV, file sharing and other devices over Wi-Fi.
Sagemcom F@ST PLUG 502W has a contemporary white finish blending it in front of any power outlet.
How Power-line Networking Works - Power-line networking is a way to connect computers etc in your home. It uses the electrical wiring in your house to create a network. Power-line networking is based on the concept of "no new wires." The convenience is even more obvious because while not every room has a phone jack, you will always have an electrical outlet. Because it requires no new wiring, and the network adds no cost to your electric bill, power-line networking is the cheapest method of connecting computers etc in different rooms. The Powerline connection works by transmitting data through the electrical wires between the two adaptors so you will need at least two powerline plugs connected with one adaptor connected to your router and the other adaptor plugs into a power socket in a far room and your network signal is transmitted from the adaptor connected to the router to the other adaptor via your electrical wiring. Therefore this twin pack design is ideal for new users establishing their first PLC network or experienced users intent on expanding their networks.
Set up is hassle free and completed within minutes complete with 128-bit AES encryption for network security.

Stopped working! After six months of faultless use, the Sagemcom 502W has stopped working. The Wi-Fi still broadcasts, but the powerline networking has stopped working. I have other other F@st Plug 501P sockets elsewhere in the house and they are still working on the powerline network, so it must be the 502W that is faulty. Shame, as when it was working, it was great, but expect it to last considerably longer than 6 months!
Trying to contact the seller for an exchange, but no joy yet.
Pity.
Great piece of kit and a piece of cake to set-up.
I have a Wi-Fi dead zone in the corner of one upstairs bedroom in my house and wanted a way to extend the Wi-Fi signal. I originally invested in a TP-Link TL-WA850RE, but this caused real problems when using any Apple device and killed the Wi-Fi for everyone else, so on the advice of a friend, I set-up a Sagemcom F@st Plug powerline network with the 501P DUO 500Mbps adaptor (with passthrough so as not to lose access to electrical sockets) which gave me Ethernet connection for the laptops and Amazon Fire TV box in use upstairs. However, this didn't solve the connection issue when using iPhones and tablets (no Ethernet), so I thought I would try adding a F@st Plug 502W Wi-Fi extender and it worked a treat. Just plugged it in, pressed the pairing button, then pressed the pairing button on the downstairs adaptor connected to the router and hey presto! Strong Wi-Fi signal upstairs! To connect a device to the Sagemcom, you have to find the Sagemcom's SSID and then connect using the password that comes printed on the back of the device. For security reasons, I recommend changing the SSID and the out-of-the-box password, but overall the F@st Plug devices are excellent.

I am a pretty skilled IT engineer and the setup process was not an issue as some reviewers suggested.
However, I will be returning this Powerline adapter as the firmware seems to have other issues.
1)Internet works fine but after a while the power line stops functioning.
2)A reboot usually fixes the issue, but its 2016, I shouldn't have to reboot home electronics anymore.
3)If you torrent while connected to this Powerline it can speed up the degradation of the CAM table, which is what i think stops its functionality.
4)My attempts to search for a firmware update to fix the bug have been unsuccessful as the companies website has been down for at least the last 3 days I've checked.
DO NOT SYNC if you want to edit the configuration. Factory reset if you have.
After reset, Plug ethernet cable into device, checkout the config web address (as in the instructions). Change the config as you want, save.
Then sync with your powerline system. After this is synced you CANNOT access the config page.
Once you understand this, then the thing works fine.
UPDATE.
I got the replacement set up as powerline extension with ethernet sockets working on the fifth attempt. Now happy to increase from two stars to four.
