The Kinetix Control: with Seven Task Controls and Timer
"With anything liquid, texture is everything."
So as well as the normal crushing blades you expect on a blender, this one's got long, wide sweeping blades that scrape the bottom and aerate the mix.
To achieve an ideal consistency for chopped nuts to soups (and anything in between), there are five speed controls including mixing, chopping, blending, liquefying and puréeing as well as two automatic programs for crushing ice and creating smoothies.
Heston's Tip: Blended ice not only cools the drink down faster, it improves the emulsification (dispersion) of the drink to even out the texture, which in many cases, improves the flavour. Experiment with the amount of ice you add to your smoothies and cocktails and see what it does to the texture and flavour.
How do you pull down what's on top, while whipping up what's below? Central blades crush and chop for velvety cocktails. Bowl hugging blades whip and aerate for creamier smoothies.

The Kinetix Control is a 750W blender with LCD timer, pre-programmed Ice Crush and Smoothie settings, which automatically alters speeds to improve blending results. The illuminated 5 speed control buttons plus pulse insure RPM speed is maintained for consistent results every time and is designed for even blending performance. It combines the functionality of a powerful blender with some food processing tasks for versatility and convenience. It also features a large 1.5 Litre BPA Free Tritan jug fitted with a permanent Kinetix Blade and Bowl System.
The blade design and high torque motor delivers quiet and efficient blending performance, while the contoured bowl design minimises food traps and makes for easy cleaning.
Curved bowl, curved blades. While a traditional blade tree pulls ingredients downwards, an extra long scraping blade shreds and whips, leaving food nowhere to hide.

I read Which and decided to buy a Magimix at John Lewis in WGC, where I saw this machine by Sage. It seemed bigger and more powerful. I delayed my purchase and then read all the favorable reviews of this Sage machine and decided to buy one. This was an expensive mistake.
This machine has some virtues, it is reasonably quiet, the smoothie program is programmed to vary the speed automatically so all the ingredients get to meet the blade rather than stay out of reach. The very bad news is that my smoothies were just not smooth. You can run the smoothies program two or three times (if you have enough patience). You can run any of the other programs or select any of the other speeds including the fastest speed and run them for over a minute (in total several minutes) and yet your smoothie will doggedly remain unsmooth. If fact I don't know how they do it. You would imagine the longer you run it, eventually it would blend the ingredients, but it just doesn't.
I was so disappointed that I went out and bought the low end (but expensive in the UK) Blendtec Total Blender. The first time I used the Blendtec the lid came off and a real mess of fruit and cream was created on the kitchen counter. You never have to hold the lid on the Sage and I was lulled into a false sense of security. With the Blendtec you must hold the lid and the instructions state this. The Blendtec is also so loud that I usually put on a pair of ear defenders just for the 40 seconds or so to blend the smoothie. However, the Blendtec produces smooth smoothies very quickly. My Blendtec also has the smoothie and other programs like the Sage.Read more ›
Had to return for refund - thank you Amazon for your superb service!
Went for The Boss To Go blender in the end, it's an excellent blender - better than the market leader, I think!
The only reason it doesn't get five stars is an odd one. It is hopeless at smoothies! I have a very low cost 700watt smoothie making machine from Lidl in the style of the Nutribullet. This baby, though loud, produces a smoothie so smooth that it can be easily sucked through a straw. The precise same recipe in the Sage (a more powerful, infinitely more expensive machine) produces a lumpy mess with seeds still whole and un-smashed and bits of fruit and bran getting stuck in your teeth. It's odd but as I have a perfectly functional smoothie maker and bought this for different recipes it doesn't bother me. Had I only purchased it for smoothies I'd have been more than a little disappointed.
I just want to know if anyone else has experienced the burning smell that seems to come from the motor
