On the surface this book should have been better, it’s got a good story line, alpha male wrestler, damsel in distress and romance, however the execution was….boring to read. I’ve read plenty of sports/romance/tragedy novels to know a slow story when I read one. Even the sample was slow but I downloaded it thinking it would pick up, due to the 5 star reviews, unfortunately not. The author tries to explain the history between our two main characters through flashbacks, and tries to build up the tension/story, but for me it just falls flat and is….boring to read. What the author could have explained in two pages is drawn out in a chapter. I ended skimming page after page realising I wasn’t missing anything major. Would I recommend this book, the answer is no, there are so much more better sports romance novels out there.

Crew, a man who is troubled with guilt over the death of his brother, with the way he dealt with things when his mother passed and with Julia, his first and only love who he let go.

Julia, didn't grow up with an easy life. Terrible parents. Finally gets some happiness with Gage, married with a daughter. However Gage is cruelly taken from her. She's coping with daily struggles, making payments on her bills, being a single parent, having no one to be there for her. If it couldn't get any worse for Julia, your wrong. I felt a strong liking for Julia's character, her strength and determination was mesmerising.

This story was heartbreaking, very emotional but also beautiful.

I was scared to go on, preparing for Crew, Julia and Ever's fate was torture!!! Every turn of the page, nail biting.

This book puts so much into perspective. Makes you really think about things... Life. Don't live with regrets, take each day as it comes. Stay strong.

Absolutely loved this book, would recommend it to everyone who loves a good romance, also plenty of tension and torture on the heart!!!!

If you like anything from Kirsty Moseley then you will love this.

Thank you Adriana for an incredible book :)

This is the first book I have read from Adriana and she has won me over in such an epic way. (Read it twice already)

We have Crew Gentry former MMA fighter, former love and brother in law to Julia Gentry, uncle to Everleigh Gentry.

Julia Gentry former love of Crew Gentry, Widow to Gage Gentry, mother to Ever.

This book is about life kicking you in the a$$, never knowing which way is up half the time in life and you being determined to give it the middle finger cause you will do ANYTHING to make it right.

Loved Adriana writing style she got me feeling what the characters felt especially with the main situation regarding one of the main characters.

Those epilogues Adriana not cool -_- not cool at all

Can't wait to start The Exception Series

I have to tell you, and as a reader you will totally get this... This book should come with a health warning, not only will you lose your heart to Crew, it will shred your heart and emotions to pieces and you will love every word of it !!! We read books, and we enjoy them, we read books and we say "oh i loved that story". BUT every now and again we read a book, that opens the door, draws us in, and and then it never ever again leaves our heart because we have found one of those magical books, that pulls every emotion out of us, tears our hearts apart and puts us back together again and leaves no part of you untouched. This book is about love, hope, despair, faith, belief, second chances and SACRIFICE, the kind of sacrifice that every parent lays at the feet of their children and those they love and give freely.

Julia is a young woman who has never had anything easy in her life, from abusive alcoholic parents to love its always been a struggle. She finds and loses happiness with the end of her first love relationship with Crew Gentry only to find love with his brother Gage, and for once her life becomes settled and complete with Gage and their daughter, and even that doesn't last for her. Now its two years after Gages death, Crew is back in her life trying to help and look after Julia and her little daughter and his niece Everleigh. Julia fights this all the way until yet another tragedy strikes that rocks her whole existence. But can she really ever trust Crew again, not only with life but also that of her daughters.

Crew Gentry has always loved Julia from the moment he met her, but he was young and hot headed and got lost for a while, and during that while he lost Julia, the love of his life.

Oh WOW this book is both heart-breaking and beautiful, a brilliantly written book that the author has obviously done her research for. It is a real ugly cry read that requires the tissues to hand and time set aside to read as you will not want to put this down.

Julia is a lovely character that is strong and independent even though life keeps throwing its worst at her. Julia is a widow struggling to manage to bring up her daughter, Everleigh, in tough circumstances, when her life takes another hit. She blames her brother-in-law for her husband's death but he is the only real family she and Everleigh have and when she needs help Crew steps up no matter how much Julia protests. Poor Julia I just wanted to hug her and for life to give her a break, right up to the end of the book my heart was hurting for her.

Crew Gentry is definitely one for the favourite book hero list, I love him. He is a great character, rough round the edges, broken by life and trying to put right the biggest mistakes of his life, all of which have affected Julia the most. When Julia is once again hit by devastating news Crew realises he is the only hope they have of being able to have a chance of coming through. Even if it does cost him his life, Crew is a fighter in more than one sense and he is set for the fight of his life on more than one stage and to pay the ultimate sacrifice if he has to.

Everleigh, this little girl broke me to tears more than once, even now writing this review I am in tears. A brilliantly written character that will leave a mark on your heart as you watch her fight right alongside Crew.

This book keeps you on the edge of your seat right to the end and then some, and ugh the tears will flow freely.
