This book helped me to realise how far off the course for preparation for marriage I was on. Then it rebuilt that reality by clearly showing practical steps and actions to consider to be on that right course. On a course that seeks the Kingdom of Heaven first especially in a relationship that honours Christ, and is rooted in a greater purpose than "romantic feelings".
There are so many sections in this book that you would gain insight and wisdom from. It was suggested to me I read it while attending a wedding, and I finished it within a few days and have been recommending it to a lot of my Christians friends since.
If you are preparing for marriage this is a must read.

This is an absolutely fabulous book. It is so refreshing to be reminded of the most important thing - in life and relationships. That call to seek first God above all else. Worth every penny of the book. How you choose your mate dramatically affects your marriage, and your future children's future. Don't settle for compromise in this area. If two people are not already seeking God first above all else in singleness, marriage isn't going to fix that. Pursue God faithfully all the days of your life for the beauty of who He is, not merely in an attempt to capture a spouse.
Our churches, our homes and our society would be so much more effective if Christians didn't shy away from first applying these principles in their own lives, and then in their approach to relationships and marriage.

Amazing book. It was a complete eye-opener for me.
I recommended it for a couple of friends and they all found it useful.
Lots of times, I had to take short breaks and ponder on what I had read, it is the most impactful pre-marriage book I have read.

A very good book tackling dating and premarital matters, the advice Gary gives is very useful. I wish many of us knew or read this book before going out dating or settling down with the wrong people. I would highly recommend this book to anyone just dating or even not in a dating relationship but looking actively. Many helpful tips and questions to reflect on. Excellent book, the best i have read in a long time and practical with a christian slant in most chapters.

Christian singles everywhere are asking who they should marry and where they might meet that person. Thomas challenges his readers to ask a different question: why should I marry? No doubt there are as many different answers to that question as there are people but The Sacred Search suggests that unless a marriage is built around a shared mission in Christ it may not stand the test of time.

I enjoyed this book. It's definitely for singles rather than marrieds: if you were unhappily married whilst reading this, you would likely not find it uplifting. In fact, as someone who is very happily married and who considered herself relatively well-prepared at the time through various pre-marriage counselling sessions, I still reflected multiple times on reading this book that I wish I had known some of its advice when I was contemplating marriage - it contains so much wisdom and it's a little scary to think that we embarked on this adventure so many years ago without that kind of advice being given to us. For that reason, if you are contemplating marriage or looking for a spouse, you would do well to read this book and take its advice seriously.
