This is an amazing book. It has so much information packed into it about how to have an easy pregnancy, and caring for your baby. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a baby that is spiritually in tune and aware. It tells you the truths that you won't find in conventional places. It helps you really empower yourself to understand your body and your baby, in the magical process of giving birth. Well worth it!!

This is to my amazement not just a wonderful book full of light and inspiration for parents to be - but a book full of valuable insights for ALL who have been born! I never knew that birthing could be like this, how wonderful and empowering to know these stories and techniques and to be able to share them with friends and family (and unknown friends through the Internet!).
If you are pregnant this book is essential reading, especially if you have any fears about 'giving birth', inherited through the trauma of your own birth or aquired from the negative stories which are often shared about the trial and tribulation experienced by others. This book shows THERE IS ANOTHER WAY. The guidance contained in this book is very special and supportive and can help you deal with these fears so that they do not become a blockage during the birthing process. There is guidance and insights for both the mother and the father.
Sunni reminds us how many of us have been brought up in a partriarchal atmosphere of fear of giving birth naturally and often believing that we were conceived in sin. She brings us back to another truth and to the primordial power that women (and men) can experience as their baby is born.
She gives guidance on preparing the way during the pregnancy. On health and diet that is good for both mother and baby and that promotes a birth which is a celebration of life rather than a surgical/ medical event. She brings us back to a 'natural' birth which is a gift to both the parents and the baby being born. She reminds us of natural methods, of patience and of sacred guidance that is ever with us but is especially with women as they give birth.

I was amazed to find myself buying this book as I have no children and will not be having any, still I knew I should buy it and indeed it is by no means yet another book for parents to be but rather a book full of insight and wisdom about birthing and being for ALL who have been born.
It is full of wisdom, with ideas and exercises of how we can grow spiritually; how we can extend our awareness; how we can be there for each other to all help to birth a new humanity.
A book which can help us all realize what we have been through (during our own birth) and learn to heal and grow past this.
I already have a copy of this book but am ordering more so I can share it with my friends and still have the wisdom contained in it at home. It's also a wonderful gift for friends and parents to be who are looking for more insight into themselves, their world and the world we creat together.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing 20 Jan. 2007
By Daciana I. Iancu - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Best pregnancy book ever.

This is not your ordinary pregnancy book. It focuses mainly on the spiritual aspects of pregnancy and labor and delivery. It's written by a midwife and therefore it highly stresses a natural delivery. I think the author is very much in touch with her higher self and she has come to many of the conclusions described in the book through her self-awareness. Therefore this may not be the book for the skeptical scientist who requires scientific proof. However, I am a physician and I found this book very helpful. It encouraged me to have a home birth. As a consequence of my natural deliverymy baby came out very strong and alert.

I highly recommend this book to those who want to focus on the spiritual and energetic aspects of their pregnancy and delivery, and especially to those who are committed to bringing their babies into this world alert and AWARE.

4.0 out of 5 stars A special book for adding meaning and understanding to pregnancy 28 July 2012
By CLK - Published on Amazon.com

This is a beautiful book in terms of its message. And if you're wishing to explore the spiritual dimensions of pregnancy and childbirth, I strongly recommend it. I haven't come across another like it.

What is challenging, however, is some of the structure - it's set up very much like a term paper with detailed introductions and summaries (that could be edited out for smoothness). As well, much of the typeface is Comic Sans (or comparable) which is tiring for the eyes. A serif font would be much more readable. (You'd think I'm being picky but it really makes a difference when the content makes me want to keep reading but my eyes are too strained to continue.) Perhaps this will be addressed in future reprints?

These are small matters, though, when compared to the value and power of the book's greater intention. Sensitive mothers will feel the truth in the pages and come to a closer connection with the soul of their baby. Readers are given practical and inspiring suggestions for deepening the experience of pregnancy and honouring it as one of the greatest transitions in a woman's (and baby's) life. It is a generous gift to the world and I'm grateful to the author for having written it.

5.0 out of 5 stars **Exceptional book, a must-have for conscious parents-to-be!*** 17 Dec. 2012

This is hands-down one of the best pregnancy and birthing books there is! I highly suggest getting this (or gifting this!) to anyone considering natural childbirth, or anyone wanting to understand the deeper process of conception, pregnancy and birthing way beyond the medical view so many other books come from. This is, however, for someone more familiar with concepts in energy fields, consciousness, and soul purpose (or at least open to it). My husband and I purchased / were given more than **20** pregnancy books -- from the usual "What to Expect When you're Expecting..." to "Birthing from Within" to Deepak's books to others on birth and parenting. Some I can truly say I was horrified to read: they were so fear-based or totally ignored the bigger picture and rite of passage pregnancy/parenting is. Many only plagued my mind with more worry or "what ifs": the EXACT opposite state of being I'm holding for a healthy pregnancy and what we feel is critical for our birth. I gave away those books and consciously had to choose to not let the fear-based thoughts or worry into my birth scenario. 'Sacred Birthing' was truly the only one that did not come from a place of fear or seeing pregnancy as a purely medical event, but rather the deep rite of passage that it is and how to step in fully and embrace the process. While it does discuss "what if" scenarios, it does so from a place of empowerment and confidence in a woman's natural process. My husband and I both have found tremendous grace, beauty and healing by reading and re-reading parts of this book in preparation for our at-home water birth. We are both energy medicine healers so work within energy concepts discussed in this book, but this even deepened our understanding of the experience. I'll be reading this up until the day I give birth: its truly a beautiful gift.

A lovely, passionate, dedicated offering to bringing the much needed spiritual alignment to birth, which is so often lacking in today's highly medicalised society.
