The original Sacred was a great game that, although not exactly groundbreaking, it offered many hours of hack'n'slash-action/RPG fun. What is more, its publisher had the good sense to price it reasonably from the start and thus fight piracy in the most effective way possible. Apparently its common sense run out.

SACRED 2, although enjoys more demanding environmental graphics and spell effects, is just another victim of clueless gaming industry executives. Instead of learning from the history of their own game, they'd rather idiotically jump on the "SecuROM/Limited Activations" bandwagon. After all, if they can hide behind the "everyone is doing it" excuse, who can blame them when the game does poorly?
They are obviously under the illusion that selling at full price a game that is actually RENTED will fail to be...noticed! Respect is a two way street - and underestimating gamers' intelligence is not a good start.

There were no reviews for this edition (obviously most gamers have been ignoring this game) yet I was informed by the only discussion thread that it still sported the same DRM scheme. Nevertheless, the price had dropped so much it was irresistible. Unfortunately, it was not even worth the bargain-bin price.

The graphics have improved since the first SACRED of course, but they look dated and limited (especially for a game that takes up...12GB of HDD space!); and yet the animations still seem amateurish and stiff.

There are no new ideas, it is hack'n'slash by numbers. Inventory, LogBook, potions, loot...There are all there and yet there is no flavor.

I agree with NeuroSplicer. The security system sucks, even after the game is installed it still keeps asking for an activation code and then telling you it's invalid even though you used it to successfully install the game. My computer security system asks every time whether to allow it to run which is also annoying as I have to keep calling up the task manager to be able to say yes.

Graphics are not bad from the little I've seen, but it has problems with stuttering and crashes running in Windows 7 so beware. Running as XP Service pack 3 compatability and administrator should help with this.

I wish there was a way to change the camera as well. In free mode it swings everywhere but where I want it to be and the only other choice is to unclick free mode and then the camera seems to be off to the side which is also not where I want it to be. With the camera moving all over the place I feel like I'm getting motion sickness very quickly.

I wasn't that taken with Sacred 1, but at least it was playable. For me, this isn't. I'm off back to Titan Quest Gold for my hack 'n' slash fix until it's spiritual successor, Grim Dawn, arrives.

This is definately the edition to buy if you want to play the Ice & Blood expansion pack. No matter if you live in Europe or North America you can play it on your system. I do reccomend however that you search the forums for the version 80 Community Patch and install it before you play. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

For fans of Diablo and the like this will be a fun a violence filled romp through a fantasy setting. Plenty of characters to play and the game has a good sense of humour too. Player mounts, a vast world and endless numbers of enemies to be destroyed. Good fun and the Gold edition just makes it even more fun for the price. Get this today and grab your axe and prepare to paint the town red!
