AMERICA IS AT WAR
China has invaded the oil-rich Spratly Islands. The American response has been swift – and deadly. And the Third World War has begun …
Captain Bartholomew Mackey is the skipper of the USS 'Cheyenne', a nuclear submarine dispatched to the Spratlys to protect a carrier group. But in a few moments, the 'Cheyenne’s'mission – and the world – have changed, as a tense situation has exploded into a full-scale war of nightmarish proportions.
Tom Clancy presents fifteen thrilling scenarios – fact-based mission profiles for Captain Mackey and the 'Cheyenne' – stirring plots and characters, perfectly accurate details, and the chilling knowledge that it could really happen …
Based upon TomClancy’s SSN, an interactive submarine combat thriller available on CD-Rom, a product of Simon & Schuster Interactive, a division of Simon & Schuster, Inc., C.I. Entertainment, Inc and Virtus Corporation

It is not really a novel, it is (literally) a half-assed attempt at turning a strategy guide for a video game into a novel.
Normally I would have given up about a quarter of the way through, but I was trapped on a flight with it.
Very, very bad indeed.
If you buy this book, you have more money than sense!
This is just anti-chinese claptrap. Whilst he certainly knows his submarine technology, that is the only positive thing to say about this book.
Clancy is rabidly anti-Chinese and this becomes more and more apparent throughout the book. This isnt the first time he has done this with regards to the Chinese.
This books tells about a American submarine single-handledly wiping out the entire Chinese navy. Dont waste your money or time.
This is sort of the same, whereby a single US attack sub annilates most of the Chinese navy single handedly without getting scratched.
Granted it does have some clancyisms about accuracy of military machines which was handled well in red storm rising but this as time goes on just feels more and more like propaganda.

This was probably ghost written as it is thin and lacks purpose.Read more
