Having thoroughly enjoyed Virtua Tennis 2009 I was really looking forward to its successor. What was not apparent in all the hype for the new version was that the World Tour could not be played through the Wii Motion Plus. To me the whole point of the game was to simulate playing at a physical level. The new version is reduced to a thumb/finger twiddling arcade game. Have reurned to the '2009' game.

I too have a copy of virtua tennis 2009 and thoroughly loved it. The new version - VIRTUA TENNIS 4 FOR THE wii IS EXTREMELY DISSAPPOINTING as it does not make use of the wii controller as a racket in TOUR mode. An absolute waste of money!!!!! It's better to play virtua tennis 4 on the PS3 or XBOX360 if you are in to pressing buttons!!!

Well, I was expecting to have some great tennis fun with this and Wii Motionplus controller. How wrong was I! Only a small fraction of the game can you use the motionplus. You have to use your Wii remote like a basic handheld controller for The World Tour, rather than skipping about your living room like a real tennis player playing real shots (so to speak). Very very disappointed indeed. I shall be returning this for a refund. If you want to run around yer games room (or any other room) playing real shots, then dont go for this game. Beware, it isint clear at all on the box, so be warned. I've given it two stars for its graphics and the fact that it does have a Motionplay section. It would have gotten five stars if all aspects of the game was motionplay. What a shame it isnt.

REVISED REVIEW

After playing the Motion Control section of the game, I have downgraded the stars to one star. Why? well, having set the 'difficulty' to Very Hard, I have trounced Roger Federer 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 (my first ever match!!). Last night i did the same to Novac Djokovic second match) (though he did manage to take one game off me). Surely it shouldnt be that easy to beat these opponents? not very satisfying really. you just dont feel youve been in a game of tennis with a tennis ace. I thought It would be a lot more difficult than this, thus allowing me to develop over time. Hardly worth bothering with the rest of the players as I know what the outcome will be.

the tile here says it all. i returned it on day of purchase. Other reviewers have said it all really. Its not really tennis sitting using the button controls. You want the fun of swinging the racket. rated as 1 star as not able to give it zero.

When I bought this game I thought I would be spending my time swinging my arms around in my living room... I was wrong, the tour mode is played using the keypad so you don't get to use the full features available on the WII.

I would say that I played it for no more than 10 hours before getting bored and playing more active games. I think I prefer the Wii Sports version of tennis.

I made the mistake of not reading the reviews before i bought this. After all who would make a tennis game for the Wii which doesn't include swinging the remote like a racket, as it just doesn't make sense. As soon as i started playing i realised that this was the case and i'm very disappointed because the graphics are good and there seem to be plenty of game options so why have they ruined it by making it a run of the mill button pressing game. It's an insult to the Wii and i will probably donate this to my local charity shop and carry on playing EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis which is good but lacks the variety as you only get to play the 5 Grand Slam Tournaments and that's it, but the gameplay is great as you get to swing the remaote as you would a tennis racket.

I recently bought this game for the Nintendo Wii thinking it would be similar to Virtua Tennis 2009, which i found very good, but i was extremely disappointed with Virtua Tennis 4 due to the controls for the game, rather than being able to stand up and move around whilst playing (like on Virtua Tennis 2009),which is what i thought the Nintendo Wii was intended for, this one use the control pad to place shots making it pointless therefore i have now gone back to playing Virtua Tennis 2009.
