These are great value when you consider what you'd pay for 10 at a garden centre.

They pretty much are what they say they are. The only little gem of info I can offer is to make sure you push them in without bending the shaft too much - because they'll snap in the middle if pushed too far. To my mind: that's just plastic for you. It has its benefits, and its drawbacks - just like any material. If you want absolute indestructibility - look elsewhere.
My technique is to go as far as possible by hand and then gently apply a bit of foot pressure - making sure the peg is going in straight (I appreciate this sounds absurdly obvious ;O)

I've used them all over my garden and much prefer them to steel varieties.

Winter 2014 I purchased a large quantity of weed matting fabric to cover two border areas out the front and two areas in the back garden planned as vegetable patches at my sisters new home.

I managed to get the front section of the house finished before the weather became too cold using GardenMate® 500x 6''/150mm U-shaped Garden Securing Pegs - Ideal for securing weed fabric, landscape fabric, netting, ground sheets and fleece to secure the matting. However during installation around 10% of those pegs were damaged beyond use, and I had also noticed that within 24 hours they had already started to develop significant surface rust.

6 Months later with the weather improving and having time to spare I decided to get the rear of the garden sorted and opted to try some different pegs so bought these based on their reviews.

First it is worth noting that these are huge. The strike cap is 49mm in diameter and their length is nearly 150mm long with 4 serrated edges running down the stalk. I used them to install weed matting in two areas, one area measuring 5m x 1m and the other 5m x 0.25m, using about 50 pegs and breaking none.

I have to admit I was curious how strong they were and placed one in the corner of four concrete slabs in my own garden and smacked it with a 4lb lump hammer and the peg went flying half way down the garden (In hindsight I seriously should have put safety glasses on when I did that). Upon retrieval I found that the peg had a 10 degree bend in it and some light damage to some of the teeth, you can see the effects in the images below of the bent peg, still in useable condition.

What can you really say about these things? I hammered them in through fabric and they held it in place. Seem to do the job well enough, although be warned, make sure you hit them square on the head or else risk bashing the head off which then renders the holding down of weed membrane impossible as it will rise over the shaft of the peg without a head to hold it down.

I purchased 200 of these pegs a short time ago ,they are the best deal I have come across even the diy stores will charge £3.29 for only a pack of 20. which equals £16.45. for that price I received 200 pegs larger than the shop item , and I have now ordered another 300. I need them to peg down a lot of mulch at a local farm where I am looking after 181 christmas trees .
They arrived loose in a large box ,so no small packets to undo ,perfect .

They are perfect for the job. Since this review I have ordered another 300 Pegs from this supplier , and they have worked perfectly they go through mulch mat without the need to place a hole in the mat first good quality , and I have ordered another 200.

but you pay for quality and they are good value , more than likely I will need more pegs from this supplier and I will not hesitate , to place an order , since its annoying to run out of quality items and only have expensive rubbish I previously purchased from a well know diy store ,before I found this supplier on Amazon .

I have purchased about a 1000 of these pegs , I have found with smaller ,more expensive pegs bought from a D.I.Y Store those were Rubbish , These are a lot better quality hard plastic , wear gardening gloves to push them through Mulch Mat , good price ,for a good quality product.

These pegs are ideal for fastening down weed membrane. They are very strong and don't break easily - I have used about 120 now on quite hard soil and have had about 4 break, and this was only because I tried to put them too near the decking uprights and hit the concrete underneath. I am just about to order some more to finish the rest of the garden.

I ordered these pegs at 9.30 am on 29/09/10 and they were delivered the following day at 10am. The only criticism I have is that they are a little brittle when knocked into hard ground.
To summarise these pegs are ideal for medium to soft earth but not really suitable for hard clay.

I used this down my allotment to pin down weed suppressing fabric. The go into the ground quite easily with the help of a mallet (althogh if the ground is hard and dry you may have trouble). Some of the pegs broke due to hitting stones as I was banging them in, but this is to be expected. One bag pinned down the suppressing fabric on my 5 rod plot. Once they are in they are hard to pull back our, they are very secure once in the ground - which is what you want.
