Important to understand beam angle

The important thing to understand with these bulbs is the beam angle. At 110 degrees they are massively different from all the other spots on the market. (For example the Philips ones are 25 degree for 'narrow beam' and 40 degree for 'wide beam'.) Sebson should highlight this more clearly. 110 degrees means that the light is extremely diffuse - super wide angle/dispersion - and shines very high up the wall. The advantage would be that you get softer ambient lighting. The disadvantage is that it is a completely different shape of light to all the other spots you could buy - and also totally different to the traditional halogen spots to which it describes itself as a 'perfect replacement'. Ultimately the light seems dimmer, yellower than any normal spot, and by the time it gets to a low level it gets so diffuse as to leave dark areas on the floor (the light is higher up the wall). Unlike a normal spot (LED, halogen or any kind) which focuses downwards, this shines 'around'. The key thing is to understand how different (110 degrees versus a usual maximum of 40 degrees) these are from the lights you are likely to be replacing. Having said that, if 110 degree diffuse light is what you want, then these are high quality, decent options, and from a colour perspective they are the closest thing to yellow halogen you will get. In any event you won't find anything else like them!

Excellent 20w replacements

The good: I really love these bulbs, they look like the halogens they replace (glass) which is important in some light fittings, as well as producing a very warm yellow light similar to a 20w halogen (although a smidge brighter which is a good thing)...

The bad: I have received one bulb as defective which loses them 1 star. The language barrier of trying to get a replacement bulb means Amazon have requested me to return all 10 bulbs for full refund and repurchase another 10 which of course loses them another star. Silly really when I would of accepted an exchange for say 1x 300lm bulb which Sebson sell as singles.

Great halogen replacement - Or so I thought...

Updated Review (Nov 2014): 7 out of the 10 bulbs have now failed. Some have failed completely, others have started to flicker and on some more than half of the individual panels have stopped working. It seems that many people have experienced the same thing. I tried contacting Sebson directly but they were not interested at all. Luckily Amazon have said they will issue a full refund. I would advise not buying this particular brand at all.

Original review (February 2014): I bought these LEDs to replace the halogen bulbs in my kitchen and have been very impressed. The light is significantly 'warmer' than some of the other brands available and by buying them in a pack of ten they represent excellent value for money. The other feature we really like is the frosted glass which hides the unsightly individual LED panels. Would highly recommend.

A couple of points -
* They are definitely brighter than the 50 Watt halogens I replaced
* They are definitely a slightly `colder` light
* Quick delivery, even coming from Germany
* Quality, solid product, as you`d expect coming from Germany
* They definitely save you cash!

For a warmer (but duller light) I`d consider the 240lm or even 220lm.
