Product description

About the Author

Mark joined the British Army in the early 1990‘s. This started a relationship with the Army that continued for over 21 years. From solider to officer. His last role with the Army was that of a training officer, responsible for the training and developing of hundreds of cadets, adults and officers alike. As part of this he worked as assistant directing staff at Frimley Park CTC, the British Army’s Training Centre of Excellence where all ranks up to and including Colonels receive training and development as required. He worked with the British military in war zones such as Kosovo, Bosnia, Macedonia and Sierra Leone. He spent time with the special forces during his career and this manual is a guide to help you succeed in your journey through selection.

I was sceptical on buying this when I saw the other review, but I bought it and it was exactly what I wanted. Having served in the military myself and attempting selection, I can identify with some of what is in the book, including some of the navigation. However, when a huge percentage of people going for selection fail due to not being adequately prepared. I found that if you can get the skills right, when you're under pressure to achieve the routes, then you have a better chance of succeeding. This book ensures that the skills are in place so that if you practice them, they are second nature to you when you're up against it and against the clock and against you're own mental self. I recommend it and I believe that if I had had this prior to attempting selection, I probably would have been better prepared. My personal opinion is that it is worth the money.

This is just a 'tips on map reading' book that all trained soldiers get taught in basic field training. It is just using the SAS name as a way to sell it. You are better off buying a proper map reading book.
