It prints beautifully - when it prints. It has periods when it does not want to print at all (Mac driver issues?). Recently, it says it's out of paper when it's full.
But, the main problem is the cartridges are extortionate and they do not last. I have spent c. £500 on cartridges this year. My last printer (Dell) cost at most £200 a year.
Arriving earlier than expected, the packaging was great and the installation was very easy, fully automatic recognition by the operating system.
The first thing you notice how is easy insert the toner, an extractable box contains all four toners. Prints are great, polymerized toners result beyond my expectations, clearer lines and brighter colors get, and prints do not show any paper ripple.
It is possible to print directly from a USB stick without using the computer, as well as simplifying the fully automatic front/rear.
Simple installation, well explained in the manual contained in the package
Eco function to save toner
The costs of the original consumables are high.
It is not wi-fi or NFC, for this type of feature you have to go to on of the top model.
The pull-out paper tray seems flimsy. I don't know how long that will last so I will have to be very careful. The Samsung 'test' page looks magnificent, but my initial prints were far too dark (they looked OK on screen) but I managed to lighten them using the controls in the Samsung printer driver (I thought it better to do that, rather than lighten them using photo software.
The Samsung printer driver has many different functions where the image can be tweaked, but it will take a long time to become accustomed to using them to best advantage.
I have only printed a couple of pages double-sided, but the reverse side printed at a slant. I don't yet know if that was due to the paper I used (80gram) or is due to poor printer design.
The printer was advertised with the offer of an extended 5-year warranty AND £60 cash-back, but no such warranty details were supplied with the printer, nor any information as to how to obtain the cash-back. That was a shock to me, because I chose this seller because of the offer, despite the price being £15 more expensive than other sellers. An enquiry to Amazon revealed that the seller had apparently 'made a mistake' in that a 5-year warranty OR the cash-back should have been offered. Despite this, Amazon told me that the cash-back will be refunded to my credit card (although I haven't yet checked if this has happened!). My own research then revealed that the 'extended' 5-year warranty is actually a SAMSUNG offer, and this warranty can obtained via the Samsung website - no matter WHICH seller you buy it from!
The printer seems nowhere as fast as the 24-pages (or whatever!) per minute that is claimed by Samsung, but that doesn't bother me too much as I'm using it primarily for occasional home use.
The printed blacks (and colours) are rather shinier than expected, but that's probably a feature of the new Toner type that Samsung now use to give enhanced colour prints. That certainly seems the case on the 'test' page that can be printed, but that picture is probably chosen because of its restricted (but vibrant) colour range. i expect my own prints could be made better, but it will take a long time for me to master all the functions of the print driver. I have already saved a custom setup to print lightened prints, but the print driver's user interface is not very user-friendly, so it took a long time to work that out.
This printer includes double-sided printing and a network port (Ethernet) as standard and overall this makes the printer excellent value for money, and it will also work out cheaper on toner in the long-run when compared to the other cheaper/smaller Samsung Colour Laser printers. This is because this one uses higher capacity cartridges that are only a little more expensive.
The cheaper Samsung colour lasers do not have a proper door through which to feed envelopes and header sheets (etc) so that's another plus point.
Only time will tell if this printer cuts the mustard, but I'm glad I chose in favour of the much more expensive opposition!
