The SAMAR GLASS X-Series SLIM for the HTC One M8 is made to cover and protect the LCD from damage and scratches with specially processed transparent glass that has been reinforced for scratch resistance. The 0.23mm thickness makes the GLASS X-Series SLIM compatible with all types of cases while still maintaining a surface hardness of 8~9H. When installed, there are no gaps between the LCD and the GLASS X-Series SLIM which means the touch screen's sensitivity is unaffected.

The screen protector is very easy to apply (if you have a dust-free area to work with or use the shower technique). I've got a grain or two of dust as my house is just full of dust, but I can barely see it unless I focus really hard. All you have to do is align the screen properly and it will evenly spread itself over the screen without you having to rub it in. You might get the odd bubble on the edges but just push it out easily with a micro-fibre cloth and a slight pressure.
The screen is very clear and smooth that I always forget I have a protector on it. After a days use it does become quite smudged but very easy to wipe clean with a micro-fibre cloth. The 0.23mm thickness gives it a nice feel in level from the speaker grills to the screen. I'm not sure how the scratch/shatter resistance comes into play so I can't really comment on that.
I had a Spigen Ultra Crystal screen protector before this and will never look back. It was a lot more expensive than this product and the quality and smoothness does not justify it's value.
Application: This is not too difficult, but I would recommend you watch the youtube video if you have not installed screen protectors before. If you have put normal ones on before, this is no harder, just make sure you remove all the dust. It says use a bathroom, but this may be overkill, I used a clear area of desk away from drafts and a bright light (to see the dust) and scrubbed it clean, and then kept removing any dust that appeared while I got the protector ready (once the protector is roughly over the phone, it is much harder for dust to drop in). Do install it from the side (not the end) for ease of alignment. I found my protector to be about 1-1.5mm narrower than the phone, so you need to get it close to the edge, but not right at the edge. Scrub with the cloth to remove any tiny bubbles. I did not have to remove/reseat it so I cannot comment on fixing application problems.
Use: the phone feels about the same after applying it- definitely a much better feel than a standard protector. It is also compatible with the matrix case, at least the one made by Tech Gear. It does not stay quite as flat closed as without it, but it is still "closed" and the functioning is unimpaired- however I can see that this might be touch and go depending on your case and screen protector fit.
Very smooth feeling
VERY scratch resistant
-About 1mm too short, 0.5mm too narrow
-Edges aren't (as) rounded as advertised (explained later)
-ZERO application instructions
-Has rounded corners on a squared off screen?
-Was marked out of the box
Now for some more detail.
There's not much to say about the good points, other than I took a small flathead screwdriver to the screen protector, for science, you know? To my surprise, it did very well, I was more worried about damaging the LCD below than the protector.
And the bad. So the protector is too short. I'm not sure how the manufacturers managed to get the dimensions wrong, but there's a very visible part at the bottom that isn't covered, same for the side too. It's a shame, because the top of mine's lined up perfectly and it looks absolutely seamless, so there was potential for greatness.
The box has a diagram on it of the edge of the screen, showing it to be very rounded, like a quarter of a circle. Apparently this diagram is not to scale, since I cannot detect any curve at all. I've tried looking and feeling it, I cannot see or feel ANY hint of a curve.
While I'm on the screen, the protector has rounded off edges, like a quarter of a circle, while the phone's screen isn't curved at the corners, so it looks pretty bad.
Probably my biggest complaint, is the complete lack of instructions. The back of the box has 'Application instructions' Step one tells you to watch a video which can be found on the front of the pack. There is no video on the front of the pack, nor the back, nor the Amazon product description. I did a quick youtube search, nothing official, didn't see anything unofficial for this screen protector.Read more ›
