Holy Moly what an absolute stonker… loved it!
It took me just one chapter to fall head over heels for this book and one day to finish what is one of the most realistically pitched stories that I have engaged with for a while.
Featuring two characters that have lived a life, so full of challenges, love and experience was a refreshing change from many of the books that can usually be found in this genre. This is a story that gave a voice to a generation that is so often overlooked but who are as much victims to the trials and tribulations of affairs of the heart as much as any other.
The journey that Ryker and Mackenzie took was one that I was glad to be on with them.
The book kicked off with a flourish and it was in that vein that the remainder of the story travelled too. This was their journey told not only in glorious detail but with deference.
The story was awash with reference to the miscommunications and insecurities that plague relationships on may level, No matter who perfect the illusion the inner turmoil is often the biggest battle, but when there are two in a relationship the meeting of minds and hearts is a sensitive and delicate balancing act.
I could relate completely too much of what Mackenzie was feeling but I also found myself empathising with Ryker on so many levels. Men of his age demographic are of the generation where feelings were never discussed, to Ryker showing and discussing his feelings is an alien concept but that is just one of the things that has both him and Mackenzie at opposite ends of their relationship.Read more ›
Ryker gets a shock when Mackenzie his wife asks him to move out. She feels that they have grown apart. Things have changed over the years. Ryker was busy with work and Mackenzie was busy staying at home with their two sons. Mackenzie realises she wants more out of life so she starts with going to the gym.
Ryker vows to fight to get his family back. Can he succeed?
Really great well written story. I absolutely loved it.
This is the first book in new series Steele Brothers and is the story of Ryker and Mackenzie Steele.
I often wonder when I have reached the end of a book and we have that beautiful happy ever after, will they remain forever in love and as they are? This is a story that delivers that. After twenty years Mackenzie is disillusioned with her marriage, she still loves Ryker but is not sure if she is still in love with him. Over the last six months they have grown apart. Ryker is all for the business to provide for his wife and two teenage boys. Mackenzie has put on a few pounds and feels she is no longer attractive to Ryker, well it must be as he hasn’t even attempted to make love to her in all that time.
Through the trial separation Mackenzie finds herself again, no longer ‘Mom’ or ‘Wife’ she find who she used to be, that girl with a zest for life and taking a chance on things. One thing she did take a chance on was Ryker.
Ryker was from the other side of the tracks, a biker running with an MC. But since the first moment he set eyes on Mackenzie he just knew his life was about to change. In order to prove to her Dad that he could provide for her, he devoted his time to building up a business, making a home and family. They had remained in love all these years but then something ran out of sizzle all those months ago. Now seeing Mackenzie taking charge of herself, with her new image and dating, Ryker knew no man was going to have the chance to take his wife from him so he set off romancing her again.Read more ›

Brilliant start to a series. The Steele brothers are a force to be reckoned with. They came from nothing and have built themselves up. Read morePublished 3 months ago by Mrs Andrea Gillan
