This book was made up of real people, with real faults and foibles and, very rare in a harlequin, real on the edge of your seat conflict. Throughout the book, I kept thinking, "I can't believe they are doing this!"How are they going to resolve this? How can they ever be together?". And when the big reveal did happen, I could not wait to see what would happen next.
What happened was a very fulfilling conclusion to a truly wonderful Harlequin. Did I mention that I loved this book?
Unfortunately Bella did have family out there, an estranged grandfather who, now at the end of his life, tracked down the son he'd disowned only to find that he was dead and only Bella was left. So he sends out his grandson Dante to bring her back to him.
Dante goes to bring her back so Jenny is forced to confess that she's not really who he thinks she is. But Dante refuses to hurt his dying grandfather anymore and instead coerces her into pretending to be Bella for what little time remains of the old man's life.
Jenny and Dante wind up growing fairly close and while they pretend to be cousins during the day, at night all bets are off.
This was actually a rather sweet story that I greatly enjoyed. It's nice to find a story that doesn't have to have horrible misunderstandings in order to make a story work.
Dante Rossini was asked by his grandfather who was dying to find Bella. He wanted to meet his granddaughter before he passed away. Jenny did not want to go, and no longer wanted to pretend to be her friend. On the other hand, she wanted to make a dying man happy.
The romance between Dante, and Jenny was sweet, and spicy. I really enjoyed this story!
