Top Customer Reviews

You would think that after making kettles since 1952 Russell Hobbs would know how to build one that didn't leak. We loved this kettle at first; it looks smart, boils quickly, has a nice feel and a smooth pour. Then we noticed a puddle of water appearing round the base. Couldn't find the receipt to return it so opened it up. When the kettle boils the steam descends through a vertical tube to trigger the automatic switch-off. Where this tube connects to the base there is a small seal made watertight with sealing compound. Considering the hot steam that passes it under pressure every time the kettle boils, the seal is inadequate, and I am not surprised it started leaking. A considerable amount of water leaks out even though the main chamber is watertight.

A design fault in my view, and unless Russell Hobbs has fixed this in an updated model I can't recommend the kettle.
