"Who was she? And why the f*** did she captivate him like no woman he'd ever met?"
I love a brooding, grumpy, intense man who, when you peel back his layers, is a complete sweetheart; Vaughn Wilde is that. He stole Lark's heart after Jude and Libby's wedding and when she ran, she took his with her. But when he finds her, he discovers not only does she have a new name, but the flame between them is still burning bright.
"I hate you."
"Good. Means I'm doing something right."
Lark and Vaughn complimented each other and as a couple worked well for me. Their verbal sparring and stubbornness created sexual tension, but they also both have vulnerabilities and a softer side and this leads to a heat-filled journey.
"Oh, vixen, you couldn't pay me to."
The last book in the series, Wilde at Heart didn't work out too well for me, but Running Wilde puts the series back on track and is a worthy addition. Granted I worked out the mystery surrounding Lark around the halfway mark but with some character crossover from Tonya's HORNET series, and the Wilde brothers and their spouses featuring prominently throughout bringing humorous and heartfelt content, it was an all round enjoyable read. The foundations are set for Greer's story, and I look forward to seeing what lies in store.

Lark has stayed hidden by stealing new names and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the story as not only Vaughn catches up with her but so does her past. The reader can’t help but enjoy the fireworks that result when Vaughn finally catches up to Lark as their sizzling chemistry re-ignites but so does some fiery tempers and heated clashes as this relationship explodes. The characters are strong, captivating and demand the reader’s attention while the fast paced, smooth flowing plot thrills readers with lots of suspense, excitement and romance.
Spine tingling tension builds as the reader remains riveted to Lark and Vaughn’s journey and awaiting the outcome of this fiery romance while adrenaline pumping excitement builds as Lark’s past catches up with her and turns their drive into a deadly game of chase. With unexpected twists adding spice and danger to the story, there is never a dull moment as the intriguing events draw the reader in and the well written scenes and details make it easy for the reader to become caught up in Lark and Vaughn’s story.
My heart has been captured by another Wilde brother as Vaughn and Lark kept me on the edge of my seat with their tempestuous adventure and relationship and I have to say that after that bombshell of a conclusion I am even more intrigued by Greer’s story and I really wish his book would hurry up and get here.
Tonya Burrows picks up the pace again in the fourth book of the Wilde Security series. Thankfully, after being left more than disappointed with its predecessor Wilde at Heart; Vaughn and Lark’s story was a more welcome addition to what is overall still a pretty good series.
This one had a bit of a ’Road-Trip’ theme running through it, as well as a healthy dose of ’Cat & Mouse’ to keep the plot moving. Lark has been on the run for longer than she cares to remember, and Vaughn is the first man to have ever caught up with her until now that is.
”You’re cute I’ll give you that.”
Both are dealing with separate issues as their reconnection grows, Vaughn has unwittingly put himself in the cross-hairs of the local mob boss, who is looking to ’Make him an offer he can’t refuse’, and Larks reasons for being on the run and changing her identity on a regular basis are also revealed.
The banter between the Wilde brothers is stellar as usual, and I liked the slight cross-over between this one and the HORNET series. I did struggle a little with the actual connection between Lark and Vaughn for most of the book, but as is to be expected Tonya delivers with the sexy-times.
The elusive and for the most part unknown, Greer Wilde is due to have his story told next, and bearing in mind he had played almost no part in the series so far, I am interested to see what adventure Tonya takes us on with his story.
