NOT SO GREAT BRITAIN....IM OFF TO GREECE.
26 June 2019
The year is 2019, the young can't afford to buy houses, the cost of living is astronomical, everything is a rip off, the country us on its knees, the world is in the verge of collapse and soon the UK won't exist. I recently went to Greece, a time they are supposed to be struggling. You would never know. It's as lovely as ever. But even TV is now awful in England. Made for the thick! Thank God The Running Man is not set in the current reality of 2019.
The Running Man is a bit of a coffee break for Arnie, even back in 1987 when he was still on the rise to becoming,if not already the biggest action star ever. Up until this point we had Conan, The Terminator, Commando, Raw Deal and Predator. Arguably Predator is Arnie at his peak, and in my opinion, he was. I say coffee break, but there is nothing wrong with The Running Man at all. It's a cult sci-fi classic, just not on the budget of Arnie's other movies. Nothing wrong with that because it gives the movie it's charm. It's one of Arnie's most violent film's, pretty much every scene with a short break in between is some one been chopped or bashed. Really enjoyable stuff and Schwarzenegger is on top form given the material given to him at the time. There are more holes in the plot than in my atheists foot but again that's what makes it what it is. A really enjoyable action film that I enjoy as much as I did back in 87 when I got my first copy on VHS. Even better on the new release Blu-ray with special feature commentary. And it's nice to see they have kept the original art work for the Blu-ray cover rather than mess around with it.
