4.5 - "That was even better than I thought it would be..." Stars!

Run to You is the first full length novel in Rachel Lacey’s new, Risking It All series. Having read and really enjoyed the prequel novella, Rock With You I was expecting to be impressed and I was not disappointed.

Ethan and Gabby gelled really well together for me, in that both of them were not looking for commitment for their own particular reasons, but also both knowing that the connection growing between them as their ‘fake’ relationship progresses is more than they have ever felt for someone previously.

"If this were a real date, you would so be getting luck tonight."

But whereas Gabby starts to embrace those feelings and emotions as time progresses, Ethan very much tries to stick to their agreement, even though he steps outside of their boundaries with more and more frequency as the story moves along.

This man… He was so wrong for her yet so completely right. And right now, she never, ever wanted to let him go…

There is a lot going on in this story, what with the introduction of Ethan’s partners and long-time friends; Ryan and Mark (who will have their own stories told in future books). The struggles they face with the town Council for the development of their new business Off-The-Grid Adventures, as Adrenalin sports are considered out of keeping with Haven’s relaxing atmosphere. As well as Dixie, Ethan’s much loved and spunky Grandmother, and her medical issues and issues with Gabby’s ex popping up intermittently.

"Baby, you have caused me more blue balls than you will ever know.

***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review - Naomi / Scandalous Book Blog***

I enjoyed this book and liked the characters. Even with the underlining serious part of the story there was still fun.
I found it easy to loose myself in this story and emotions definitely ran wild

Ethan and his friends have returned to the town they grew up to follow a dream of opening up their own adult adventure playground called Off The Grid. Ethan has been bough up by his gran and she is everything to him but when she finds out she is poorly and there is nothing they can do except keep her comfortable he is heartbroken. With the knowledge of his grans limited time , Ethan is doing everything in his power for her to have and see all the things she wishes for. Its whilst he is out trying to finalise the plans for his new company that he stumbles upon a woman who has not realise she is trespassing. Startling her he soon realises that she has disturbed a yellow back nest and that leads to a whole turn of different events. Gabby is just out of a rocky relationship and with an Ex that will not take no for an answer and parents who just don't understand she finds herself seeking solace in a beautiful cabin, in a little town. When she is continuously stung and finds herself sat on her ass in the lake, she tries to fight the pull to the man who is trying to help her.

The couple find themselves thrown together when a dying woman reveals one of the items on her bucket list is to see her grandson settled. Ethan comes up with a plan...He will get Gabby to pretend they are together then once his gran passes away they can go their separate ways. Ethan is pretty happy to go along with this idea, Gabby is stunning and he is definitely attracted to her....

Run to You is beautifully romantic and on a subtle level empowering, showing you really can have it all. Finding the place you belong and the people you belong with as well as the pursuit of your dreams all wrapped up in a stunning small town.

Told in third person narrative with alternating focus, the use of the third person allows the introduction of pivotal players for later books in the series.

Run to You focuses on Ethan and Gabby. Ethan has returned to his hometown to pursue his dream of opening an outdoor adventure centre as well as help care for his ailing grandmother. Considered a hometown hero because of his successful sports career, Ethan tends to keep people at a distance. Haunted by events from his childhood and witnessing the abuse his mother dealt with. Ethan carries the emotional scars deep in his psyche preventing him from embarking on a meaningful relationship. Drawn to Gabby on a fundamental level, Ethan is catapulted into a relationship with her in order to ease his Grandmothers concerns for his future. We all know how quickly the 'fake' can turn real if only the barriers can be overcome.

Gabby has her own demons, having escaped to Haven (it lives up to its name) in order to take control of her life. There are hints of an abusive relationship in her past, crossing over the plot threads with Ethan's background. I adored Gabby in all her quirky awkwardness, she is giving, compassionate, selfless and loving to the core. It is easy to see Ethan and Gabby are perfect for each other from the beginning. The story is fast paced and emotionally intense on a number of levels, through laughter and tears I desperately wanted Ethan and Gabby to reach the point where they could pursue their happily ever after together.

The friendships within Run to You added to the overall heart warming atmosphere of the narrative, as well as laying the foundation for the rest of the series. I, for one, cannot wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars Overcoming fears 19 Sept. 2016

Both Ethan and Gabby have faced scary, abusive situations in their past. The town of Haven has offered them both a place to heal. Grabby is smart and determined. She wants to overcome her abusive relationship with her ex boyfriend by taking a break in Haven. Ethan survived an abusive childhood, his Gram saved him by taking him in and raising him in Haven. He's become a success as an adult and he's determined not to repeat the past and avoids serious relationships. Through a series of mishaps, that could be fate, Gabby & Ethan spend time together. Ethan and his buddies are building a new "Off the Grid" adventure park, Gram has decided the couple is meant to be and pushes them together. The exploits they face as a result of their pasts, their family, their friends and her ex make fun, touching and interesting reading. The result of their friendship is rewarding, even though they suffer through some hard situations. It's all about life, overcoming your fears and facing your future. Very nicely done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Racel Lacey!!! 30 Aug. 2016

Run to You by Rachel Lacey....Oh my goodness, I love Rachel Lacey's books she has a way of pulling the readers into the story and you become invested with the characters. This book hits all of your emotion buttons, you are happy, sad and make sure to have tissues while reading. Ethan, where do I start...he is so hot and your dream boyfriend, perfect in every way. Gabby is an angel, I loved her personality and how sweet she is. These two are trying not to fall in love with each other while pretending to be in a relationship. This is a must read for any romance reader. I was given a complimentary book by publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

I don't ever give the story away but I thought it had great chemistry , some heartfelt moments that touch me , and I know with other books coming along these characters may pop up with other friends :) recommend it :)

Run to You was such a quick and lovable story. Rachel Lacey has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I haven't missed a book of hers yet, and after reading this last one I know she'll be on my bookshelf for years to come. Her small town story setting coupled with such a sweet romance is a winning combination. I'll read this one again for sure!

Another fantastic read. She continues to amaze me at how wonderfully she can draw you in and it gets better and better with each page turn. It's great that she pulls former characters into each new novel as it makes you really feel like you know hem personally.
