Review
Fascinating insight into the gruelling world of the ultimate ultra-runner . . . It's impossible not to be inspired by Jornet's feats ... at his sheer dedication and talent to remain at the pinnacle of what must arguably be sport's most challenging discipline ― Daily Mail
About the Author
Kilian Jornet is a world champion ultra-runner, climber and ski mountaineer (a combination of skiing and mountaineering). He was raised in the mountains of Eastern Spain and at 18 months old would hike four to five hours at a time. In 2013 Jornet broke the world speed record to ascend and descend the 14,692-foot Matterhorn mountain. Jornet's time was 2 hours and 52 minutes. The push typically takes climbers around 12 hours.

The best I can say for this book is that it was written in Catalan and clearly loses some of the impact of the description in translation. Kilian Jornet the man is a true inspiration, his life devoted to running in the mountains, his ability to win again and again is unrivalled. The book, well not so inspiring. The scenery descriptions has the feeling of the translator having to use several words for one Catalan word and gets very stodgy. The chapters about his ex partner felt a bit out of place - as if the book was trying to be a rounded autobiography when it really wanted to be a book about running. There are some interesting insights into what it takes to be the best elite ultra mountain runner in the world so if you are really interested in being the next Kilian Jornet, this book might help, but I found other books by lesser athletes more inspirational.

If you think a book has to have structure - a clear beginning, middle and end - a clear thesis, then perhaps this is not the book for you. But if you are looking for a little poetic insight into the mind of a man who knows how to push himself to the limits and beyond, then this is a great read!

This is a real shame. Killian has achieved great things as a runner and is arguably inimitable as an Ultra runner. This book, however, is poorly written and without any real weight.

Not a particularly enjoyable read for me. Lots of personal accounts of various races and a little on his childhood but just nothing gripping or that interesting which is surprising given what he's achieved. I found myself skim reading the last few chapters.

I loved this book. I am so amazed by the freedom, the determination, the energy expressed. I wish I could be like this ... I continue to strive towards my goals buoyed on by books like this. Thank you Kilian!

A beautifully written, poetic & humble book that I thoroughly enjoyed. A greater pleasure to read than other books from ultra marathon runner which are often a very literal recounting. I feel the runner's character and approach to running reflected perfectly in the writing.

Very good book even you're not a runner. What's make him tick and keeps him going is very inspiring

He explores the inner life of the ultra runner. Inspired me for the comparative little races I do. Runners will love it
