Oh, the heartache. Oh, the drug intake. And oh, the sales records they did break. It's all here in this 70-minute, 1997 chronicle of the making of one of pop music's biggest albums ever, Rumours. All five members of Fleetwood Mac's most successful incarnation are interviewed, and their comments are even more candid than the confessional songs ("Dreams", "Go Your Own Way" et al.) on the album itself; descriptions of the torturous process of making a record while John and Christine McVie's marriage and the Lindsey Buckingham-Stevie Nicks liaison were breaking up at the same time makes for compelling, if slightly discomfiting, viewing. Meanwhile, lest one forget that Rumours was terrific as well as revealing, plenty of attention is paid to the songs. Particularly fascinating (as with most Classic Albums packages) are the breakdowns of the separate instrumental and vocal components of individual tracks. This is a great tale, wonderfully told. --Sam Graham, Amazon.com

This video works on two levels. It is an in-depth look into the making and writing of Rumours, the amazingly successful album by Fleetwood Mac, and features interviews with the band members, and also the producers who worked with them on the album. The album was famously made at a time of intense personal trouble for the band, as the two couples within the band were in the middle of breaking up. They talk frankly about the impetus behind the songs, the messages behind them, and how they recorded it. It works as a behind-the-scenes video, showing their musicianship, as well as being a valuable window into the personalities behind the melodies. It also features live snippets of many of the songs on the album, and includes everything from the photoshoot to the studio to the finished product. If you are a Mac fan, you simply MUST buy this video.

This DVD has to be one every right-thinking-person should have in their collection ... be they a Fleetwood Mac fan or not!!
Ultimately it is first a foremost, a documentary style programme on the way the infamous album "Rumours" was born. There is in-depth discussion with the entire band - even Lindsey!! There is discussion with the producers, who reveal interesting facts about the album. Did you know one of Stevie Nicks songs was omitted from the album because there wasn't enough room on the LP for an extra song - the days before CD I might add!! There's the ultimate performance of 'Songbird' and indeed every track on the album. Mick Fleetwood is as ever the joker in the pack and he injects some humour into the documentary.
Admittedly this documentary is nearly ten years old but despite this, it centres ONLY on "Rumours" and there is no reference to "Tango In The Night". So, should you buy this DVD?? Most certainly, at nearly 90 minutes long, you will never tire of watching it, but certainly it is recommended for compulsory renting - Amazon make sure you have plenty in stock !!!

Fleetwood Macs Rumours Album was amazing. Well more than 20 years on here the band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks talk about every track that was on the album. With archive footage from live concerts they did on the Rumours tour of 1977 it is well worth watching. Here two special songs done for this DVD, Never Going Back again on Acoustic and Song Bird performed live in San Fransisco by Christine McVie. The band talk about there private lives at the time of the making of Rumours on how they managed to stay together after the break ups of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckinghams relationship and John and Christine McVies marriage. Also the divorce of Mick Fleetwood. This is an amazing DVD with lots of Fleetwood Mac memories. This is not a DVD though for Fleetwood Mac fans of the Peter Green era. If you like the Rock Fleetwood Mac band then this is deffinetly for you.

The Classic album series has given viewers some remarkable insights into the process of the making of some wonderful albums.....and some not so wonderful albums come to that. But that's a purely subjective thing. What is under no cloud of doubt what so ever is Rumours is one of the great soft/rock-pop albums and that the recording of the album was carried out under truly extraordinary circumstances.

Fleetwood were at that time made up of two couples .Christine and John Mcvie were married while Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks weren't but might as well have been. Mick Fleetwood was married but not to someone else in that group ..you'll have noticed the numbers don't add up for that to be a possibility .While the group were recording Rumours both couples were undergoing highly painful split's. Christie Mcvie was having an affair with the groups lighting director which made things even more awkward. Buckingham and Nicks were still on speaking terms though much of the time that involved arguing. Fleetwood meanwhile wasn't exempt from the emotional turmoil as he found out his wife was having an affair with his best mate. Cramped together in a small recording studio in Sausalito San Francisco there was no escape from each other and it's no surprise that the individual takes on their disintegrating relationships informed the material on the album. Christine McVie later remarked that they were all writing about each other, hence the title of the album.

This DVD exhaustively puts all this on record -which of course the band did too literally- and also gives fascinating insights into the recording process and the make up of individual songs , something this series always does really well and is arguably its most absorbing facet.

well being of the fleetwood mac generation it is quite easy to review one of the best albums ever recorded.this dvd is a must for the fans who want a bit more of a insight into the making of.if you didnt know then, the circumstances why it came together(like i didnt)then you will do after watching.who would of thought that hate could have such a positive ending.how these five people wrote such classic songs such as DREAMS,THE CHAIN DONT STOP,GO YOUR OWN WAY,etc etc in a room no bigger than a chinese takeaway is beyond me.imagine having to spend one year of your life in a room with someone where the relationship was over not easy eh!and the only way to communicate was through your song writing.well thats what they did.the end result being a top ten selling album of all time.this dvd gives you the insight to every song and why it was written.the sound quality is superb, along with the picture tone,if i was to have one criticism of the disk maybe,it would of been better if the songs could of been played in their entirety instead of snipets.but apart from that, the only other fault being how on a couple of the live footage they found it necessary to include film from the mirage tour which was some 5 yrs later(1982)but maybe it was just a bunch of RUMOURS: mick b.
