Review

5 stars from The (Mis) Adventures of a Twenty-Something Year-Old Girl: "You know when you get a book, and it's much better than you thought it was going to be? Ruby's Fire was definitely one of those books! I absolutely loved it... What an amazing plot! Also, there is a fantastic twist that I didn't see coming." Books for YA: "Astounding creativity and unique world-building." Words Create Scenes: "I can't even begin to tell you how smoothly the writing flows. It's perfect. No joke. I went into this book not knowing what to expect and what I got was an amazing storyline." Seeing Night Reviews: "Romance, betrayal, secrets, great world-building!" YA Between the Lines: "With the rest of her world coming down around her, Ruby must choose. Blane or Armonk? Blissful Oblivion or painful memories? Ruby can choose to wield her inner fire, but she has to be careful not to get burned." Book Luvver: "Ruby's Fire combines beautiful, arresting language with fully fleshed-out characters, a richly detailed post-apocalyptic setting, and fast-paced, surprising story turns." Fluttereal Flight: "Full of creativity, imagination & original concepts."

About the Author

Catherine Stine writes YA and middle grade fiction. She also writes new adult fiction under the pen name Kitsy Clare. Her YA futuristic thriller, Fireseed One, illustrated by the author won finalist spots in YA and Science Fiction in the 2013 USA Book News International Book Awards, and was an Indie Reader Approved notable book. Her YA Refugees, earned a NYPL Best Book. Ruby’s Fire, a companion novel to Fireseed One that can be read on its own is earning high praise: 5 stars from Teen Blurb: “A world full of magic, and unexpected romance!” 5 stars from Books for YA: “Stine continued to amaze me in Ruby’s Fire with her futuristic world. She made me believe that it was real, and that hybrid-species were possible. I really enjoyed her characters especially Thorn. He's such an intelligent little kid whose heart is huge. Also, if I could have my own friendly Red, I would be the happiest person ever.” 5 stars from The (Mis) Adventures of a Twenty-Something Year-Old Girl: “You know when you get a book, and it's much better than you thought it was going to be? Ruby's Fire was definitely one of those books! I absolutely loved it… What an amazing plot! Also, there is a fantastic twist that I didn't see coming.” Seeing Night Reviews: “A fast paced story with adventure and great world-building. I was easily drawn into this fantasy, with unique medicines, creatures, futuristic technology and a whole history that changed the planet. There's lots of romance, betrayal, secrets and challenges for each character that surrounds Ruby. I enjoyed the science tidbits, which really made me think what more is out there to discover. In the end I can’t wait to read more from Stine, as she created a very original world with so much detail that easily hooked me in. Fans of Partials by Dan Wells and Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris will enjoy Ruby’s Fire.” Words Create Scenes: “I can't even begin to tell you how smoothly the writing flows. It's perfect. No joke. I went into this book not knowing what to expect and what I got was an amazing storyline.” Fluttereal Flight: “Ruby's Fire is full of creativity, imagination and original concepts.” Catherine has taught creative writing workshops at the Philadelphia Writing Conference, Missouri University Summer Abroad, The New School and at Rosemont College.
