'I just had to read on. I can't wait to read the next one.' --Ginette Doyle, Goodreads

About the Author

Sharon Gosling always wanted to be a writer. She started as an entertainment journalist, writing about television series such as Stargate and Battlestar Galactica. Her first novel was published under a pen name in 2010. Sharon and her husband live in a very small cottage in a very remote village in the north of England, surrounded by sheep-dotted fells. The village has its own vampire, although Sharon hasn’t met it yet. The cat might have, but he seems to have been sworn to secrecy and won’t say a thing.

I enjoyed the first book, The Diamond Thief, and in some ways this topped it. A wonderful imagination at work; fabulous action sequences, and a developing relationship between the two main characters. Good stuff (and all wrapped in a cracking cover).

I feel like the odd one out, that somehow i managed to read a different book to everyone else who read "The Ruby Airship" because i didn't seem to enjoy it as much as everyone else. I felt that it was written well but was far more basic than i'm used to. By that i mean that the story line was pretty obvious from the start, although there were a few elements that shocked me towards the end. I felt that even though the characters were in peril at certain times there was no chance of anyone central being killed off unless they were a "baddie" as everything in this book seems to turn out well. The feeling of peril just wasn't there, in fact it seemed to be over exagerated to the extent that it felt a little ridiculous.

I felt that Remy did some daft things, and the reasoning behind these choices wasn't strong enough in my mind. I also found her relationship with Thadeous to be slightly annoying, i know that this is a kids book but they could at least admit to themselves and each other that they like each other. Yannick seemed odd, i couldn't get a handle on exactly what he was meant to be doing apart from being a character make plot links. Also, his power to hypnotise was highly implausable it felt like he just wiggled his fingers and you did what he said.

As i said the writing itself is pretty good, maybe i'm just a little older than the intended market. Having said that i have read quite a few middle-grade fantasy etc books and haven't found them to be the same as this book in terms of lack of style. I think i'll leave this series here.

the ruby airship is a sequel to the diamond thief- a series i thought could'nt get any better! but it did. much more than i expexted in fact.
the book starts after a performance from remy at a theatre late at night. during that time of night she meets two friends which she hasn't seen for ages( including the mysterious yannic ), helps stop a robbery and is accused of theft as well.
this book is definately one to remember and i hope sharon will continue writing. unlike other reviewers i find no fault with this series and can not wait for the next. i know this review has many spoilers but i just couldn't help it.
so, what are you waiting for- BUY IT!!

I read the diamond thief, not knowing there were other books. Then I was browsing and found this incredible story. If you like adventure, mystery and heart warming stories, you'll love this whole series. It's impossible to put down right from the beginning.
