This book was even better then Catherine Macphail's other books - it was realistically written, and was thrilling and gripping, too. When fourteen year old Roxy discovers she is pregnant, she can't bring herself to tell her mum, stepdad and sister so she runs away to London. While there, she becomes involved with Mr. and Mrs. Dyce, a loving friendly couple who own a big house in the country and want to help girls like Roxy. It sounds too good to be true...and it is, because Mr. and Mrs. Dyce are evil inside...pure evil. A GREAT READ!

I couldnt put this book down -which is auviously a good sign. I wont ruin the story for you, but will reccomend this book to any young adult. I could really relate to how roxy must have felt -even thoguh i have never been in such a situation. While reading you really feel the suspense, pressures and determination roxy faces.

An enjoyable read, I love this author. As a librarian in a secondary school I find her books engage our pupils into reading as she writes about urban issues which I find our pupils can relate to. As her blog will tell you. (Catherine MacPhail has quickly established a reputation as a writer of gritty, urban stories that tackle emotional, contemporary issues but always work towards a positive solution and are usually realistic) I now have a waiting list for some of her titles. A positive sign of a good book.

I'm 14 (Sarah's daughter) and this book has gone through so many of my classmates hands is looks like it's been through the washing machine!
I bought it almost 3 years ago and didn't have time to read it. Three years later I found it and after that couldn't put it down. Every time I started a new chapter I promised myself this would be the last one bt each chapter left me wanting more. Once I'd read it all of my friends read it and they all managed to read it in one day (like myself!) The pure evil Mr and Mrs Dyce are so contrasting to some of the other real nice characters!

Buy this book and I promise you.. you won't be able to put it down!!

This was a fantastic story and I was enthralled all the way through it, but it did seem more like a film script than a book. a lot of the conversations Roxy has or descriptions were also very cliche and it started out as a typical teenage angst book. It did get better as the story progressed though, it was just hard to get into at first. The story was amazing though and extremely heart wrenching.

God I really liked this book! It was so, feeling! The way the author makes you understand the feelings of Roxy is great and so very real. More books like this are what we need for our teenagers!

Thankyou Catherine MacPhail!
