Get the most out of your digital videos, music and photos. Creator 9 lets you create, manage and enjoy them the way you want, on your computer, home theatre, or TV and even on the move with your iPod, PSP or mobile phone. With dozens of new and improved features plus Blu-ray and HD disc compatibility, Creator 9 is the essential software for your digital life. Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 is the perfect solution for your digital lifestyle, bringing together best-of-class media creation and playback tools with virtually universal media output support for taking digital media on-the-go.

Making Entertainment Mobile
MediaManagerTo keep pace with consumers' growing interest in mobile entertainment, Creator 9 provides extensive support for portable devices including a wide assortment of video players such as the iPod, PSP, as well as Windows-based media players such as Samsung's Yepp, audio players, and mobile phones. Within Creator 9's Media Manager, the application used for quickly organizing and accessing photos, music, video files, and multi-media projects, users can now upload selected content to their multimedia mobile phones through a USB or Bluetooth connection. Users can send photos and video clips to a phone to create a mobile digital album or even upload music segments as personalized ringtones. In addition to sending personal content to phones, consumers can also send the impromptu moments they capture using their built-in phone camera back to the PC for storing or sharing. Consumers can also transfer their favorite entertainment such as DivX content or recorded programming from a TiVo system or set-top DVD recorder. Consumers can use predefined settings to auto-format files for sending to an iPod, PSP or select from a comprehensive list of supported file formats that can be customized to suit any device.

Securing Memories
Creator 9 confirms its leadership in optical disc recording with the inclusion of Blu-ray Disc support. Creator 9 allows consumers to record to both single and dual-layer BD discs and archive as much as 50 GB of personal data – or 12,500 music tracks, 50,000 photos or four hours of raw high-definition video. Creator 9 also enables users to span large projects across multiple BD discs and secure content through disc encryption. In addition, Creator 9's Drag-to-Disc packet writing software offers consumers the convenience and efficiency of dragging and dropping files to a Blu-ray Disc in the same way they would place files on a hard disk or flash drive.

Rediscovering Music
AutomixCreator 9's already impressive music capabilities are enhanced with new applications including the Audio Capture Widget, which is a desktop application that lets users easily record any audio playing on their computer such as Internet radio programming. The Capture Widget includes a unique Pre-Roll feature that can automatically record and store audio even before the record button is selected. Acting like a Personal Video Recorder for audio entertainment, the Pre-Roll feature ensures users never miss a moment. Another innovative feature of the Audio Capture Widget is the Mute System Sounds feature that lets consumers hear system alerts, while suppressing them from the resulting recording. All programming recorded through the Capture Widget can be modified in Creator 9's Sound Editor and easily converted for output to a portable audio player or disc.

Also new to the audio capabilities in Creator 9 is AutoMix, a feature that automatically generates perfect playlists. Using sophisticated algorithms to analyze and fingerprint each song in a consumer's library, the AutoMix feature defines a complementary mix of music based on a ‘seed' track chosen by the user. Consumers can use AutoMix to quickly generate an upbeat selection of songs to motivate them at the gym or a relaxing set to use as background during their next dinner party. Resulting playlists can be defined to fit the size limitations of a portable player, recorded to CD, uploaded to a mobile phone, or used as the basis for creating a DVD Music Disc. A unique feature found only in Creator, DVD Music Disc turns any standard DVD player into a virtual music jukebox with up to 50 hours of Dolby Digital quality music. DVD Music Disc now offers attractive new customizable menu styles and an option for shuffle play.

Hollywood Capabilities for the Home
CineMagicEasy Media Creator 9 includes a rich selection of authoring and video editing tools that offer consumers the perfect blend of automation and hands-on control. For creating professional-quality videos, consumers can use the high-definition enabled, 32-track timeline editor with advanced video overlay tools and fine-tune editing controls. Easy Media Creator 9 also delivers a host of automated features that enable consumers to achieve stunning results with minimal effort including a one-click color correction tool, automatic background noise removal feature, a fit-to-disc encoding option, and an automated scene editor that allows consumers to easily omit unwanted content from their video programming. The enhanced CineMagic 2 takes consumers' raw video footage and favorite song and automatically generates a polished production complete with professionally-stylized video introductions, special effects, and appropriate transitions that are all synchronized to the tempo of the selected music.

CineMagicCreator 9 also includes an enhanced version of MyDVD, which allows users to generate blockbuster-style DVDs with new professionally-designed menu styles that include matching scene menus – coordinated with the CineMagic styles. Consumers can choose to enter the MyDVD Assistant, which will guide them quickly through the production of a personalized DVD or enter the advanced editor and take complete creative control. Advanced features include motion menus, menu-to-menu transitions, and animated buttons.

Additional capabilities typically found only in higher-end DVD authoring applications include advanced support for object and sub-menu linking and comprehensive end action controls, which allow users to precisely dictate the sequence of events following a DVD navigation selection such as playing a title or returning to a menu.

having used Easy CD Creator from way back when, I was hopefull that this new version would have sorted out the bugs all too common in the previous software - wrong! - Creator Platinum Edition (v5 i believe) used to frequently lock-up my XP machine, and had massive memory leaks which filled every inch of RAM, whilst only printing a CD label! - hoping this was just a problem caused by my old XP PC and old software, i upgraded - wrong! this new edition is just as bad.

It feels like Roxio need to go back to the start and build a new product from the ground up, rather than adding layer upon layer of junk on top of an already faulty program - the ultimate case of a big company sticking its head in the sand. Shame on Microsoft for giving this Vista Launch Partner status too, but i guess big money is involved...

Avoid.

(mind you thats easier said than done if you have Vista, so I'll rephrase that - Best Of Luck!)

Having used Roxio's products in the past, I thought Creator 9 would be an ideal addition. No problem installing it but it is just so slow. I checked my system meets the minimum requirements, which it exceeds by some considerable margin, but it takes an eternity to even open Also, I had trouble in carrying out a couple of tasks- the help guide did not really assist and the online support is terrible- ie non existennt!

Promises much but fails to deliver in spectacular fashion! I bought this because my Dell PC came with the cut-down version of MyDVD (Version 6) which I thought was ok. My main reason for buying it was that it allowed you to make DVD-Video discs from dvr-ms files created with Windows Media Center. But, after installing, it has been nothing but trouble. For a start it corrupted Windows Media Player (sic), it frequently hangs-up when converting video files and the most annoying thing is that when you do finally manage to get it to create a video DVD four out of five times there are audio/video sync problems! The other major problem is that it is extremely slow. Before you ask, my PC has a 3Ghz dual-core CPU with 2GB of memory which is well within the minimum requirements.

The only thing that seems to be in its favour is the "Disc Copier" feature which allows video file conversion of all the popular formats including dvr-ms and 3gp (for mobile phones etc) and the ability to make a video file from a DVD recorded on a stand-alone recorder. This is handy if you want to make a compilation disc from various sources.

Conclusion; don't waste your money on this junk - get Ulead's Movie Factory instead, which is more flexible and a lot more reliable. Oh yeah, the so-called on-line support is just a joke. If you do (foolishly) buy this software I can tell you that you are very much on your own - they certainly won't help you!

I've been using Easy Media Creator for a number of years now since Roxio bought the brand. Each release of the software has left me hoping that the software glitches would finally have been ironed out, but sadly this is still not the case.

So what do you get for your 50 quid?

Basically, a piece of bloatware; a jack of all trades, but master of none. My new Dual Core 2 with 4GB RAM goes into meltdown just opening the main title screen (I have a processor and RAM monitor on my desktop.)

Roxio proudly claim that they are a Windows Vista premier launch partner, yet the program does not run well on Vista at all. When you boot your PC, you will get a message about an incompatible driver error, yet there is no way to remove this driver (which apparently conflicts with the Vista DVD driver) An email to their technical support remains unanswered after 3 weeks and their support forums are full of disappointed customers asking for answers, yet the response from Roxio is merely to lock down the message board threads.

EMC9 looks to be the answer to your dreams; a one-stop video editing/photo editing solution at a reasonable price. However, in reality I experienced dropped frames when trying to edit videos and a DVD slideshow of a family wedding left half of the guests with a sickly yellow glow about them.

Instructions are very poor and left me extremely frustrated. The only thing which works well is the iPod video conversion, but even this is let down by poor lip synchronisation.

On the face of it, this product looks very good value but you will be sorely disappointed once you start using it.

I've now bought Avid Studio 10 and it is infinitely better for video editing. For photo calaloguing, Google now have an excellent free program called Picasa.

I have used all photosuite packages and found them to be very good. However I don't feel that creator 9 is worth moving to. I find it to be very slow, I am using an AMD 4600 x2 Chip with 3gb of ram. I added another 1gb as the program kept crashing on me and telling me I didn't have enough memory for opening photos. It still does this after a chip upgrade and an extra gb of Ram.

The package I used before was creator 8 now that was a different story, very fast never an error message and I created many movie projects.

My advice is avoid creator 9 like the plague
