This is great for me as I'm visiting 8 countries and I don't want to have to carry 8 travel books, but if you're only going to a couple of countries you may want to consider buying individual books for more detail. Nevertheless, this is great for an overview of everywhere you'd probably want to go visit, costs and how to get there plus a bit of history/culture of the countries.
Full of useful facts and hints & tips, it sums up each country in terms of accommodation, food, place of interest and even details useful website such as for organised tours and airlines.
Wow, what a spectacular read!
I traveled solo and thank god I had this! Good to have an idea of the areas, and then cities I wanted to explore. Mentioned some places I've ever heard off and so glad it did! It made my trip to salar de Uyuni magical as everyone else was waffling people#s advise to start to Uyuni rather than recommend in book to get a better experience starting in tupiza - i wrote about this on my website http://iamdanelson.com/visit-salar-de-uyuni/
Food, nightlife and places to visit are all easy to follow and highlighted on readable maps.
Sometimes it can be out of date so that adds the element of excitement anyways!
Buy buy - i recommened in my "what is in my backpack" guide - http://iamdanelson.com/what-is-in-my-backpack/
There are also recommended itineraries which can help when you are making it up as you go along! I'd recommend this to anyone planning a backpacking trip in South America.
