Anyone who has ever been to the Marrakech Medina will know that street signs by and large don't exist and that many of the places you want to get to are down a range of alleyways.
As a result, mapping out the Medina is a huge undertaking, but Rough Guides have done it, and done it successfully. By listing each of the hundreds of restaurants and Riads on the Medina streets, you are effectively given a sign-post of where you need to go.
By using the map we never got lost once and even managed to get to Richard and Sophie Neat's destination restaurant / Riad, "Casa Lalla" under our own steam, where we had previously been warned we would need to pay someone to take us there.
Highly recommended and will definitely be using it on my next trip over there.

This map is great - very detailed and reliable. The owner of the Riad we stayed in said 'Very good Map' and that is from a local who knows her way around. We saw many tourist struggling with other maps and many of them resorted to paying the local street urchins to give directions ... not a good idea as inevitably you go via their cousins tannery.

The map itself is waterproof and we ended up folding it many ways, stuffing it into bags etc and it's still looking good. The card cover has an 'easy peel' strip so you can remove it from the map and re-attach it when you want to re-pack it properly.

I purchased this map and the Lonely Planet guide from Amazon and would reccommend both - the map inside the Lonely planet guide is not much use for navigating your own way around Marrakesh.

This is the only map we found that showed the detail you need to successfully navigate your way around the city, in particular the Medina/Souks. The local tourist maps and the ones you get in guide books come nowhere close!

The detail on this map is fantastic and meant we could enjoy touring the city and seeing the sights (which are all well marked on the map) rather than keep asking for directions (which you get charged for a lot of the time!)

At first I thought this was expensive for a map of a city, but after visiting I would have payed ten times the price for it!

This an absolute must for a trip to Marrakesh. Well detailed and accurate and I think almost indestructible as maps go. We folded and refolded it many times to show just the area we wanted, with little sign of any wear. It also kept a lot of the local 'guides' at bay, they saw the map and left us to it, so worth the money for that alone! The reverse side has a map of Essaouira which was a bonus for us and also well worth a visit.

This map is an absolute must for anyone going to Marrakech. I recently went and not only would have been totally lost without it, but would have missed out on some of the treasures Marrakech has to offer. Street names are a rarity but this map makes up for the lack of them by being absolutely perfect - even through the maze of the souqs! Without it i may have had to resort to pay a few dirham to be guided by locals who either take you on a roundabout route to where you want to be, normally via their cousins tannery, or send you in completely the wrong direction and laugh at you as you go. Buy it before you leave or suffer the consequences!

We have just returned from Marrakech. So glad we took this map.We still managed to get lost from time to time but it was definitely better than any of the options available there. As a party of 8 I just wish we had taken more than one copy. Get one!

Having just returned from a week in Marrakech this map was put to good use. For a start this map was much better than the one given to us by the owner of the Riad where stayed. Not once during my stay did we need to ask for help in finding our way around Marrakech, especially when navigating our way around the souks.

To give you an insight to Marrakech, it is a bit like a maze. The souks have lots of small alleys running off the main street - Souk Smarine. In addition to this, there are no street name signs in the souks and very little street name signs anywhere else in Marrakech. Therefore it is essential to have a good detailed map like this one for getting around Marrakech as you can very easily get lost.

The map also has some good points of reference such as Exchange Bureaus, Restaurants and Hotels on the map to help guide you.

If you are consisdering getting a map then this one is a must, as most hotel and tourist information maps do not contain enough detail to help you navigate your way around Marrakech.

Having bought various guide books on marrakesh I thought that having a more detailed map would prove helpful, which this did nicely. Our hotel was a good 45 minutes to the main square (where all the souks/markets where) so this proved invaluable. The reason I would recomend this map over others is because not many of the streets in marrakesh were signposted, and this map had hotels, shops, information places hightlighted on it so it ensured that you were always travelling in the right direction. If you are able to walk around the city it is certainly worth getting this map, and it is much easier to carry around than others in guide books.
