Product Description

Product Description

Set / Violin 4/4 Silver wound Economy set for the beginner

Manufacturer's Description

When musicians were looking for a specific sound or concept, they would come visit me at the factory. Jimi Hendrix was not pleased with the sounds he would get when he bit his strings, so I developed a gauge which he thought 'tasted' right. The .006 and .007 first strings that he used to bite gave him the sound he was looking for.

I'm learning the violin and accidentally snapped one of my old strings because I'm a bit clumsy at times and got a bit over-enthusiatic with the wooden peg. I decided to just replace all my strings as they're pretty old. I have to say that I was a bit cautious as most of the other strings I could find were at least double the price of these, but there was no need to worry. These are great strings, and as I've got a pretty rubbish violin I think they sound great. I'm sure if you have a thousand pound violin then better strings will sound better. So for me these were perfect. They sound good, they seem well made, and most importantly they are great value. Five stars easily.

This has been the first time I have actually changed all four strings on my violin at the same time, normally I just change them as they snap! Aside from the usual going out of tune for the first few days, they now make such a lovely deep resonant sound. If you have a different type of string and want to just replace one, I would go for the same again, as they sound very different from my previous strings. But if you wanted to completely re-string, I would definitely recommend using this product. Thanks for reading.

I'm new to the violin, so was looking for reasonably-priced strings that don't snap at the drop of a hat. These strings fit the bill perfectly. Good value for money.

These are 'economy' so do not pretend to be anything better. If you want to make a good sound, then bite the bullet, pay the price and buy 'Dominant' strings. The violin is a very difficult instrument, so you need everything in your favour!

The strings are hard and difficult to press. OK they're cheap. I've returned to the violin after a few years so needed to replace the strings. With the time and dedication needed why compromise? After a month bought THOMASTIK DOMINANT 4/4 VIOLIN SET STRINGS MEDIUM TENSION 135, which can be bought on Amazon. Yes you pay much more but they're softer to the fingers sound better and if you wish to progress and develop your vibrato, these making playing so much easier.

While these strings do hold up, they are far to rough and guitar-like, they constanty catch the bow, preventing it from gliding over smoothly which meant that my violin was producing terrible creaking and scratching sounds, Will be avoiding any strings with that texture in the future.

I have not a prob will not put these on my violin they look really cheap. There is no cloth wrap on the ends to help grip the pegs and cover the base of the strings at the ball end, the g string looks like a guitar g string (rough outer looks like it would catch the bow). Should have paid a bit more and got better quality i expected more from rotosound.

I originally replaced the E string that I broke, the entire set were the Astea set, i then picked this brand because i thought they would be better, clearly i was mistaken, the E string yet again broke as soon as i even tightened the tuning peg, i was very disappointed,I shall try and contact the seller and see if they have a solution, but it looks like its back to the shop for me :)other than that annoyance a huge well done to AMazon!
