I am reviewing this brush after using it on our six year old short hair tabby cat.

This is a well made brush which is easy to hold thanks to the moulded plastic handle and rubber grips set into. The angle of the head can be adjusted into two positions via a ratchet (although the angle of adjustment is slight, around only 10 degrees or so). The head of the brush sports a bladed comb on one side designed to remove knots and dead hair. On the other side is a rake to remove shedding fur. The bladed comb has a cover that should be used when it is not in use and the 13 prongs of the rake are sprung but the travel is limited and the spikes remain exposed even when fully compressed but no cover is provided. I'm not saying the spikes are too dangerous, but it seems curious that a cover is provided for the bladed comb and not the spikes as they seem to have equal potential to cause damage. The metal fixtures and plastic mount make the brush easy to clean.

In use the brush works, although, our cat doesn't like the comb being used on him, but is a bit more comfortable with the rake. To me, I fear this product might be a bit severe for use on certain types of coat such as our cat's short hair, yet, it would be ideal for other types such as a dog with longer hair that is susceptible to matting.

I think this Rosewood Brush/Comb is well made and potentially good, but the important thing is that it needs to be matched to the right type of animal coat which, based on my experience, is a longer haired rather than short haired variety.

I have six dogs, and I've found this brush is brilliant on three of them.

For my Griffon Basset it makes his coat look great and he loves being brushed with it. My collie has always hated being brushed, but this is amazingly effective on him - I get so much of his undercoat out it looks like I've been shearing a sheep! It also works brilliantly on my old lurcher, but he's a bag of bones these days and he really doesn't like me using it on him, when normally he loves to be brushed.

For my short haired dog this brush is useless, on my Labrador it's no more useful than other brushes I've tried and on my other finer-coated lurcher it's almost torture. I haven't found the short side much use on any of them, to be honest, so I don't bother using it.

If you have a long-haired dog this is definitely worth trying. However, it is pretty messy when it's working well, so be prepared for the fur to go everywhere! It is also quite pricey for what it is, but having seen how much fur it gets out of my collie's thick coat I'd say it was worth it.

My dogs don't like being brushed much, but they tolerate this brush better than their others. The wide toothed end is great because it moves with the contours of the dogs body to prevent pressing too hard. The smaller end is excellent for removing matted hair without causing discomfort, one of my dogs has longer hair and needs this. There is a fine blade between the teeth so that once the tangled hair comes in contact, it breaks away the knotted section easily and painlessly. There is also a little plastic cover to protect the blade end, so it can be stored away safely. The neck is adjustable and he handle is comfortable to hold. Overall, very pleased with the brush.

Here's a handy piece of kit to keep your puss or pooch looking tidy and sleek.

The Rosewood 'Comb Combo and Moult Stoppa', with its vari-angle handle
and two tools (a rake for removing shedding fur and a comb for getting rid of
knots and dead hair) is both very effective and easy to use.The accompanying
info says that "regular grooming should be an enjoyable experience for pet and
owner" and it's hard to argue with this. "Tigs", a single-minded rescue cat of
discerning taste and impeccable character, seems to have fallen in love with it!

A well-made and useful product.

Our Retriever loves being groomed with this and it leaves a lovely finish on his coat. It's no more effective than other brushes on our daughter's cat, though, and could probably hurt the cat if not used with care.

The groomer is easy to use, being comfortable and secure in the hand, and seems well-made.

I feel the rake could damage the skin of short-haired dogs and cats, so wouldn't buy it for them, but would certainly recommend it if you have a long-haired pet.

My cats fur tends to get clumpy on her back where she can't reach it easily to wash and groom it herself. This brush worked like a charm and the cat enjoyed being brushed with it. It helped to get her fur back in order in no time at all. I found that the shorter side worked best for my cat, but the longer side is there to use as well. It was easy to use and does what it says basically.

I have 2 dogs, one has short hair for the most part, but not as short as a Staffie. The other dog is a petite Border Collie who has medium short fur. I have a selection of combs and brushes that I normally use in addition to the Mikki Moult Master. I was therefore interested to see if this Rosewood Combo Comb would do the job with 1 instrument.

It is comfortable for the groomer to hold and the head of the product has some slight movement to get it at the right angle to the pets body. The prongs do sort of retract in a bit but they are quite sharp. The moult comb side is really very fine.

I first tried out the pronged side on my own hair (which is short and straight) and did find that the prong tips were not very comfortable, so knew I had to be careful using it on the dogs. The pronged comb side worked fairly well but no matter how gently it was used, it was clear that neither of the dogs were comfortable, even on then denser thicker fur round the neck and down the back end. I then tried the moult comb side and whilst it worked reasonably well, again it was clearly an uncomfortable experience for the dogs.

I do not get the same reaction when using their normal brushes and combs (of various sizes and styles), and when I use the Mikki Moult Master on them, the results are better in that more undercoat is removed, the fur looks sleeker and the dogs are in no way uncomfortable while it is being used.

I think that this Rosewood Combo Comb will be a hit with some types of fur and possible good for long haired type cats. I would urge caution though with the pronged side as it would be easy to inflict discomfort on a cat because they are by their very make up not as solid as a dog.

The price is about right, given that it is a duo sided implement.
