High quality vinyl. Not a double album, but has sturdy foldout gatefold sleeve and liner notes. Komeda's work for Polanski was always first class. It's up there with Komeda's classic score for Fearless Vampire Killers/Dance of the Vampires for me.

A very intense soundtrack that really transfers the horror and suspense from Polanski's epic movie. A first rate release with detailed liner notes.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2012 Has been a good year for Movie Soundtracks So Far! 5 Jun. 2012

Yet again. Released a 2nd time on Compact Disc. I will say, this REALLY IS The Definitive Version of the entire Score. I just acquired this C.D. for $24.95 total Brand New. Limited to 3000 Units Only. We get to hear the original U.S. Vinyl LP Tracks 1-12. Remastered from the original tapes in all their Digital Glory. Well Remastered with pristine sound. I can tell great care was given to preserve this gem. Tracks 13-29 are extracted from the movie itself which are in (Mono Sound) as the film was. Track 23, includes a cue that is missing from the 2005 Harkit Records U.K. Import. *Book About Witchcraft / The Horrible Doctor / The Fragrance*. "Book About Witchcraft" is one of the main one's I wanted when the 2005 came out. But was not there. Tracks 30-34 are "Source Music". And Tracks 35 & 36 are Bonus Cuts. La-La Land Records is on a roll this year. Earlier in January We saw the release of Friday the 13th, Parts 1-6, Limited Edition from them. Which I own 2 of those F13 Box Sets.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chilling 3 Jan. 2013

One of my favourite movies, and the music is an integral component. It is a tribute to Polanski that he had the wisdom to select Komeda to score the picture. When you hear the music without the film, its evident how effective it is - it can create the mood all by itself. The most stunning pieces are the truly harrowing dream sequence music and the enchanting Christmas jingle. The main title sequence is featured in five variations on the disk, but the best remains the one used in the film, again a completely unsettling nightmare of a piece, so gentle and drifting yet sinisterly off-key. Do not play it around children!

Top-notch in every way. The most comprehensive, best-sounding, best-documented CD of this esteemed Komeda film score. Beautifully presented and lovingly produced. Magnificent.

First of all I just want to say I love this movie and the score! Waxwork records never disappoints! On another note, since this record has been out of print for about three years I was excited to even find this album at such a decent price. I excitedly added it to my cart and couldn't wait to get it! Then I realized my husband and I were going on vacation and I didn't want it sitting on my porch in the summer heat. I contacted the sellers Buddy and Bess to see if they could ship the record out before or after my arrival dates. They shipped it out that same day even though they didn't have to to make sure that it got to me safely before it sat on my porch and melted. Buddy very nice to deal with and I really appreciate his assistance. I would definitely order from them again. Thank you!
