Loved the book when I first bought it. Then I had to get some more, as presents for my English friends. Now I bought another 3! I might as well buy all the available ones, that's how much I liked it.
It explained a lot of my behaviour and it helped me learn a lot about myself.
But that's just me! Some other Romanians' reaction was the complete opposite! That's just proving how true the saying quoted in the book is: '' If you have three Romanians at a table, you will hear four opinions!''
I recommend it to anybody who doesn't want to understand the Romanian customs and traditions! ;)

I am Romanian and I can say that the information is quite accurate. I am not too happy with general feeling that the books transmits about our country, but then again, this is a westerner's point of view ...
oh, but I must correct something written in the book: it says that we have a slow internet connection... that is NOT true! we rank 1st in Europe and 4th in the world for average Internet connection speed... google that :)

I have recently made quite a few Romanian friends and wanting to know more about the country (and attempting to learn the language) I was interested to read this book.

What a fascinating read it is. It has heped me understand why my friends say the things they say and act the way they do.

It is easy to read, gives a good insight (albeit brief) into Romanian history, politics, food and culture.

If you are interested in finding out about this fascinating country this is a great starting point.

Very good book about Romanian culture and customs. Most of what I've read rings very true from my experiences in Bucharest. It's good to read some explanations about why things are done in certain ways, and peoples behaviour now makes a lot more sense. Would definitely recommend this book for an introduction to Romanian culture.
