Along with the Ancient Britain map, this map of Roman Britain is a must-have for any trip. We like to know what's around us as we travel, and this map is a great incentive for taking the lesser-travelled roads. There's a heap of history out there, not all of it easily discerned, so this map is an excellent way of deciding which way to go. It's not a road map, it's a guide to ancient sites, but anyone with common sense and an AA guide (other road maps ARE available) can use the one to find the places on the other that are of interest.

Don't try to read it in the car, unless you have a motorhome, it's just too big. Otherwise, you're going to find that it's a great map, easy to read and inspiring you to travel to the less-known sites only the intrepid will see.

Just what i wanted! I just wish they would produce these maps on a smaller scale so they could fit in the little not so significant places but they still might be of interest. I also have the Ancient Britain map. Both are good for pointing out the main areas of occupation, and good little side notes.

Excellent, and shows all roman occupation of Britain during the Roman Empire, with names of provinces and also towns, forts, major routes etc. Well worth having if you're into history or metal detecting

For all you Civilisations IV or Crusader Kings 2 fans out there, eat your heart out. This map will satiate all your nerdy joys while exploring Hadrian's wall and the Roman fortification of present day York. No seriously though, this is a pretty impressive map.

A hell of a lot bigger than I expected. Very good and informative map with a clear indexing of roman activities, roads, forts, villas hoard finds etc etc.

Highly recommended for anyone interested in Roman stuff or like me a metal detectorist.

Fantastic reference material on Roman Britain -- fits well with the Oxford History of the Roman World. The only problem is that when you open up the map you don't want to put it away. First rate publication!

I find the large scale map format great for planning our UK adventure. You get a good perspective on what areas to head for and a central location to stay while investigating the area. The time period designations are also useful.
