A xmas present, and one which I read in a day.

I play with the North East's first roller derby team, the Middlesbrough Milk Rollers, so this book was high on my list of things to read.

This is a fast-paced story of one girls progression from geek to glamazon due to her joining the Texas Rollergirls.

Full of juicy stories, derby tips and well-researched historical info, I would reccommend this to any derby girls or anyone who wants to know what all the fuss is about.

Rollergirl is a smashing book - retelling the early days of Roller Derby and concentrating on it's modern form, Flat Track Roller Derby. It's told from the perspective of one person, and certainly there's a distinct aura of bitchiness here and there - both given and received! The style is quite gossipy, and features funny profiles of various skaters scattered throughout.

If you're a Derby player, ref, NSO, fan, or even if you only know Derby girls, it's a must-read.

A great read, I could barely put it down.

It covers every possible area you'd want to hear about if you're a roller derby enthusiast. The personal stories, the ins and outs of the games, the ups and downs of running a sports team. It manages to capture the sheer joy of watching a real derby bout and had me flinching at every injury and grinning at every point scored.

My only annoyance at the end of it was that there wasn't any more to read.
