Product description

Review

"This book has a magical world that isn't like most that are out now, around every corner there is something that just makes you gasp and giggle and think how neat. Add some romance and sizzle in and you won't be putting this book down until it's finished. I can't wait to read the others in the series!" -Amazon reviewer "I really enjoyed the main characters and found myself wanting to throw something at the male character when he was being a jerk. I liked that each person had their own area and there wasn't any gender bias. I was also pleasantly surprised about some of the bad guys in the book and hope that one may appear again in a later story." -Amazon Reviewer I don't read an awful lot of fantasy romance as quite often they can have terribly complicated world building and sometimes end up too wordy. I'm happy to say that wasn't the case here and I easily sank into the story..."-Amazon Reviewer

Ive long been a fan of ths authors time travelling Fae series so thought I'd give her fantasy series a go when I spotted this . It's the third book in the Kings Riders series but I found that the story and romance worked quite well as a standalone. Its set in a land where both ordinary and those possessing magic live and there's even elves and animals capable of bonding with humans. It's into this setting that we first discover Elissa who has powerful magic over the elements and when she was a small child own family were brutally murdered. Her cousin is married to the King and consequently Elissa has spent her life safe within the royal household. Now though it appears the the evil Mage who slaughtered Elissa's family is hunting for her and the King decides that perhaps it's time to hide her yet again . His answer is to get her to travel to Greenwald where she must choose from four possible suitors but when Alasdair is chosen as her personal Knight and protector it's clear that as a chaperone he is most definitely not suitable. Alasdair would like nothing more than to sample the beautiful Elissa although his honour forbids it but Elissa has ideas of her own!
I don't read an awful lot of fantasy romance as quite often they can have terribly complicated world building and sometimes end up too wordy. I'm happy to say that wasn't the case here and I easily sank into the story which was good although I'm not quite sure about just how quickly an unexpected hero did a complete about face. What works beautifully is the romance angle and it has a very grown up feel to it so not for younger readers. If honest I thought the author gave quite lavish descriptions at times which took me away frm the plot but it's clear this is written with love .
