Ex-Floyd frontman Roger Waters captured in live performance. Includes 'Set the Controls For the Heart of the Sun' and 'The Bravery of Being Out of Range'.
As In the Flesh--Live confirms, Pink Floyd fans can still get to hear their favourite numbers sung by the man who originated much of the band's songbook. Roger Waters took his latest show around a number of American stadiums in the summer of 2000, including a generous helping of Floyd numbers from 1968 to 83, and a selection from his subsequent solo albums. Tracks from The Wall make up the largest proportion of the concert, its angst lessened when interspersed among the more prog-rock ethos of the earlier 70s. His bass playing secure, Waters' voice has survived the passing of time reasonably well. He has the benefit of an emotional call-and-response with Katie Kissoon in "Mother", and serviceable back-up from Doyle Bramhall II, who overdoes the histrionics in recreating Dave Gilmour's guitar parts. The backing band is a class act, with Snowy White and Andy Fairweather Low trusty and responsive guitarists, and a rhythm section underpinned by Graham Broad's solid drumming. One for long-time fans, but a classy presentation in the best Floyd traditions.
On the DVD: the High Definition visuals reproduce with needle-sharp accuracy--and a choice between 5.1 Dolby Digital or Surround Encoded PCM Stereo enables you to savour the elaborate stage set-up to the full (a technical guide is included). There are detailed biographies of all 10 band members, two dozen diverse photographic stills and a 20-minute behind-the-scenes documentary, with Waters seen inventing new card games and lending out replacement socks! --Richard Whitehouse --This text refers to an alternate DVD edition.

The DVD is really good in the fact that it's a good high quality on vision and sound.
The songs are all well played and some better than others but that is just personal preference and also the fact that some of Gilmores parts are done by others that to me it just not quite right for some reason.
My main problem is the set list it is heavy lased with pink stuff as 18 of 24 are pink Floyd so only 6 are waters original and solo material. The songs chosen are good but there is only one from pros and cons , one unreleased to CD which is cool and 4 from amused to death all good choices and long songs the main problem is there on 0 songs from radio KAOS and there were some amazing tracks on that album. The good thing about the Floyd selection is he does pigs on the wing and dogs which I am glad he did so I can see it live and he does welcome to the machine and wish you were here + shine on which are also good as I love both them albums but I do miss David's vocal at the beginning off dogs. He also does some early Floyd as set the control and he also plays some the final cut so there are some good songs but a few more waters solo and a little less Floyd would have made me happier.
His vocals are still very good after all this time so he sounds the same as he did during Floyd.
Allot of the bass for his solo album songs are played by someone else and not waters but he douse play acoustic guitar one some.
Overall a good DVD with good songs but could have had some improvements. But very entertaining and worth a watch A must have for waters and Floyd fans.
A fantastic film of a concert on his US tour.
It contains songs from his days with the Floyd as well as some of his best known solo work.
Tracks include - MONEY, ECLIPSE, SET THE CONTROLS FOR THE HEART OF THE SUN, COMFORTABLY NUMB, IN THE FLESH, ITS A MIRACLE, PERFECT SENSE, PROS AND CONS OF HITCH HIKING, SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND, WISH YOU WERE HERE, EACH LITTLE CANDLE.
He is backed up on stage by the likes of SNOWY WHITE, ANDY FAIRWEATHER LOW, JON CARIN and KATIE KISSOON.
There is also footage of the rehearsals prior to the tour and band biographies.
Go and buy it - you will not be dissapointed!
