I love Alyssa's books. The Empire and Crescent chronicles are brilliant and I adore them. But this book, even though it's short (way too short) spoke to my heart. I love Macon. And I love his personality. Everyone thinks that he a player, but there is so much to him.

The book is telling us the story about Macon and Carly. The first has his issues, that even his best friend doesn't know and even she thinks of him as a player. But they are so wrong. Once he sees Carly, his best friend's boyfriend little sister, he is lost. Everything is changing. He ince again feels love and attachment, and finally he can be simply himself around her.

Carly, a girl just after college with complicated life and even more complicated family issues, arrives one day at her older brothers house, trying to hide from her family. The second time she sees Macon she knows that there is something that makes her feel something that she shouldn't as she knows that he is player.

Their love starts with simple night swimm and after that they know there is no turning back.

The book is easy to follow even if you haven't read the first part!

On the Rocks is the second book in the Mixology series, this time it’s Macon and Carly’s turn in the spotlight. Macon is Maddy’s best friend while Carly is Colin’s little sister, if you remember these are the main characters from the first book in the series, Shaken Not Stirred.

I have to say that while I loved the interactions between Carly and Macon I did feel as if their story took a while to fully get going. The continuation of Colin and Maddy’s story overshadowed theirs for a while.

Both Macon and Carly for all their external confidence both have deep insecurities that prevent them from fully expressing their feelings. Their chemistry is undeniable from the start, yet both believe the other only wants a no-strings attached relationship. Causing more than a little angst in and of itself.

Brody (the third roommate) is more involved in the story on this occasion gearing up to his story in the third book :)

Carly and Macon compliment each other and discover a comfortable relationship that neither has previously experiences. A level of acceptance and understanding that provides comfort for both of them. Their respective family situations add a depth of emotion to the story. they have both been hurt and for all intents and purposes betrayed by their families. Finding understanding in each other they gain perspective.

I adored how their lives fitted perfectly together and the future unfurled as if by magic ;)

Reconciliations, heart-to-hearts, friendship, romance and diving with a luxurious beach setting. All the ingredients for a great summer read.

Thank you to Ink Slinger PR for providing me with a copy

The second in the Mixology series, On The Rocks is a contemporary romance that promise some hot men and some hot scenes!

Now I hadn't read the first book Shaken Not Stirred but it did not matter, I felt this book can easily be read as a stand alone. It has several main characters - you have Maddy and her boyfriend Colin, Colin's sister Carly and Maddy's best friend Macon.

The book is written from the POV of both Carly and Macon, which works well, The book starts with Carly turning up unannounced at Colin's house in the beach town of Corolla, North Carolina after finishing college.

She quickly falls in to the beach life and starts to make friends, including Maddy's two flat mates Macon and Brody and gets herself a job working as a restaurant hostess to pay her way.

Macon has a bit of a reputation as a man about town but he sees something in Carly and he sets out to get to know her better, including doing some outrageous flirting.

When Maddy is persuaded by Colin to move in together Carly is invited to stay with the boys and this is where her relationship with Macon really steps up a gear, can they stay just friends?

There is one fly in the ointment, a problem from Carly's past, the reason she doesn't speak to her older sister Kim or her parents, could this be enough to stop anything happening between Macon and Carly?

On The Rocks is a great read, I read it all in one sitting, the characters where great, I am intrigued by Brody the quiet flat mate, you know what the say about the quiet ones!

If you are looking for a romance with a nice twist to it, then I'd recommend this!

On The Rocks is awarded 4 out of 5
