This book is a spinoff/crossover book from both The Trace & Olivia and Willow Creek Series, Ive read all of the books in both series but I still wasn’t sure if this would work.
It did lol!!
Willow and Dean epitomise all of the good stuff from both of these series in one adorable nugget of a book.
I really enjoyed this story, it was just the right level of sickly sweet that I totally ‘drank the coolade’ but not sweet enough that it hurt my teeth. I know that makes it sound bad, but I honestly mean that as a compliment.
Willow is incredibly young and struggling to find her place, I adored her free spirited nature and and innocent outlook on the world. Dean is much more laid back and quiet, yet together they bounce off one another and complement each other.
This is a very sweet first love story but its also a very young story. There is no sexy time fun in this book, perhaps I should rephrase there is sex but its never explained in detail and managed to feel incredibly innocent and almost pure.
This book is neither edgy or gritty but what it does do is portray a beautiful love story that’s so sweet and naive. It was a breath of fresh air from all the difficult and complicated battles to find happiness. Willow and Dean’s story is simple and easy and sometimes that’s the perfect way to fall in love.
I’m glad this book was written the way it was, nice characters and a nice story.
I look forward to the rest of the series.
The road that leads to us gets 4 stars from me.
I think Dean might be my new favorite book boyfriend of the moment. I love his sweet, nerdy, caring personality! He is definitely swoonworthy in my book.
It is highly recommended that you read the Willow Creek and the Trace and Olivia series since characters from those pop up throughout this one. Dean and Willow are the kids from two of the couples in Micalea's other series, and more kids will pop up in other books she is adding to the Us series. I can't wait for the next book in the series which stars Willow's cousin, Liam Wade. After seeing him in this book, I am definitely intrigued to know more.
If you are looking for a sweet, gentle romantic ride of a book then this is the perfect book for you!
First off I'll say I absolutely love this author. I've read and reviewed all her Willow Creek books and loved them. I was gutted when that series ended, so to have this new series start and see more of the Willow Creek boys but older and with families, well it was perfect for me. Micalea writes such beautiful characters who you immediately connect with and a story that will keep you addicted throughout.
I do love a friends to lovers romance. This is Willow's story who is Maddox and Emma's daughter who decides to go on a road trip with her best friend Dean. This isn't just your typical road trip though and both their lives will change on this journey when they discover what's been staring them in the face for years. The chemistry and connection between these two was electric and I was eagerly waiting for them to open their eyes and see what was right in front of them.
A well wrote addictive story of two people's journey. I can't wait for more from these lot of amazing characters.
