This is a quality first attempt.
In general the music behind the singer is absolutely amazing, guitar riffs flying out all over the place, very catchy, easy to listen to,
and as the album moves through the tracks, the time just sails past.
Heidis vocals are up for discussion though.
She doesn`t appear to stretch herself to any length, staying to a relitivly comfortable vocal range, which to me makes the vocal sound similar on many of the tracks. But I would recomend to anybody who is into the catergory of music, very highly.

This band has been called another Nightwish. The only similarities are they are both from Finland and both have an operatic sounding singer. This band, while being in the same vain as Nightwish, have differences. Amberian Dawn is far more guitar oriented while Nightwish emphasis keyboards. If you listen to this album with and open mind you will fid they are good in their own right. Strong songs with an excellent guitarist. Definitely worth a listen and the, I'm sure, you will want more of their albums.

This album is very well done, I love it so have written this in response to some 'poor' reviews on this forum. Yep, I'm into the northern european 'symphonic' metal bands, nightwish, Sirenia, lunatica, epica and the like. Though Amberian Dawn does bring a refreshing twist to this genre. You see my other love is all the shred guitar stuff, such as that other european guitar master Yngwie Malmsteen. So with AD you get the low chugging riffs, the gorgeous female vocals (you either love the 'operatic' vocal style in metal or hate it, I love it) the classical keyboards, the GREAT catchy songs and melodies that are certainly not all the same, and the sophisticated arrangements. PLUS you get some great shred guitar solos (albeit brief) that you do not get with the other symphonic metal bands. My only gripe is that the CD is just over half an hour long. I'm a long time Joe Satriani fan as well, though playing Amberian Dawn back to back in the car with Chickenfoot (much hyped and rave reviewed), Amberian Dawn wins hands down to my ears.
