Product Description

Product Description

Great Games and Accessories for the Nintendo Wii from Gamesbuyer.

Manufacturer's Description

Experience genuine terror from one of Japan’s horror masters, Takeshi Shimizu, in the first ever videogame offering of JU-ON: The Grudge. Using the Wii Remote as a flashlight, players explore haunted areas such as an abandoned warehouse, a dimly lit hospital and a mannequin factory, all whilst trying to remain in control of their nerves. Developed with heavy involvement from Shimizu-san, JU-ON: The Grudge is as close as you can get to actually being in the twisted world of The Grudge.

Use your Wii Remote as a flashlight, with ease of use movement and terrifyingly lit environments

Keep control of your nerves – the more you flinch and jump the worse your performance affects your score

Wii Remote is not just a flashlight – depending on the game flow, controller changes to various devices

Compare your points with friends and family – after finishing each stage the game will judge how scared you were based on how you played

Experience real sounds – the sound effect is a key element of the game and many were actually recorded at existing ruining facilities and buildings to bring realism

I've read a lot of bad reviews about this game. Some comments are justified - movement of your character through the game environment is slow and it's frustrating to have to retry failed levels from the beginning.

The game isn't in the Silent Hill/Resident Evil genre so don't buy it if that's what you're hoping for. Grudge can simply be described a fairground haunted house simulator and works well on that level.

This game is an interesting game to play but it has its flaws. The controls, especially the flashlight, is terrible to control and it often decides to not follow your directions with the Wii remote and you spend a lot of time trying to get it to go where you want it to go. It is also horrendous to try and turn around as you wait forever. The game for a single player is not especially scary; you have to rely on the game for the scares which you kind of get used to. However in two-player mode, the second player is able to create random scares with their Wii remote to scare player one, making the game scarier and less predictable. It is a very short game (I think people say it takes around 1 1/2 hours in total) so that makes it slightly less apealing as you get into it and then it ends.
Personally, I would only really play this game with friends at a party or around Halloween time as single-player isn't that fun. I would peg this game at around £10-15 at most just because of how short it is.

I am now, and have been for quite a while, a big fan of the survival horror genre, such as Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Siren: Blood Curse and so on. And as my other half owns a Wii, and I love the original Japanese horror film of the same name, I thought I would give this game a try to see what it is like.
And, I am afraid its bad news. It is arguably the worst game of its kind I have played - maybe ever. Why is it so bad you ask? Well, the fact of the matter is it is a poorly designed, poorly presented, not scary, has poor uninspired graphics (blocky, pixelated and lots of pop in and pop up) there is no music to speak of, sound is very generic and annoying, its very slow and painful to play, so much so that you will want to throw the controller at the wall. The levels are linear, dull and boring. And it will only take you 3 and a half hours to complete and you have no reason to play it again if you die mid-level let alone come back and do it all over again for fun. Overall, a very poor game that is best avoided, even by the biggest of fans of the films. I am off to try the Silent Hill (Wii) game now and expect my review soon.

I like off the wall games, I like HK Horror movies. I loved the abandoned spookiness of the Fatal Frame series, so this sounded like it might be worth a run out on the Wii. Unfortunately, Ju-on is simply a very poor game in just about every respect. There is barely a scare to be discovered. Sometimes its hard to tell if you're playing the game or in the middle of a pre-calculated sequence, The control system is shocking, I'll give the developers that, but the whole thing just doesn't seem like a finished product, more the kind of rough mock up of a game you'd take to pitch, in the hope someone will give you a contract to develop the idea further. I am not familiar with the movie(s), so can't tell you how they stand against the source material, but I can't imagine this game will win over many new fans to the genre or franchise.

Very odd that Nintendo see fit to give this game a PAL release when Fatal Frame IV won't be seen outside Japan. I really wanted to enjoy this game, but unfortunately, it's a one star. Wouldn't recommend it, even if you are a fan of survival horrors. Seems like a game that should have been out in the N64 era.

Great fun but too short hence 4 stars not 5. A little pricey considering the length but worth a play. Turn the lights down and volume up for some good jump scares.

Playing this in the dark alone at night is really scary if you're as scared as the movie as i a

Like i said, if you play in the dark.. nowhere near the same effect as playing in daylight. people are comparing this to silent hill, absolutely ridiculous different game altogether, with a totally diferent concept. I have had to turn this off several times for it making me jump too much, whether it be from the screen or the remote vibrating and the eerie sounds.

I think its brilliant, especially when you have done a level and watch your friends do it, knowing where the jumpy parts are!

Definitely recommended, as long as you don't compare to the likes of silent hill :)
