In her first adventure, Lara Croft was forged into a true survivor, but she glimpsed a deeper, secret world. In the next chapter of her journey, Lara must use her survival skills and wits, learn to trust new friends, and ultimately accept her destiny as the Tomb Raider. Rise of the Tomb Raider builds upon the formula that made Tomb Raider a success, and features the return of Camilla Luddington as Lara Croft. Luddington will take character performance to new heights as Lara pushes herself beyond human limits and is confronted with what it means to become a hero. Once again, Crystal Dynamics is proud to have the award-winning author Rhianna Pratchett as a key member of the writing team, helping craft a story that delves into Lara's inner turmoil and motivations in this critical second act of her journey.

The graphics are brilliant so game play is very realistic, and the story is interesting enough to have convinced me to have a go - the first time I've played a console game since the days of Crash Bandicoot!
Unfortunately, being entirely useless at such things, I'm still stuck in Siberia trying to kill a bear - and on the easiest level of game play! Even my son, a fairly skilled gamer, took a couple of weeks playing for an hour each evening to complete the game on the second difficulty level - there are four - so it's a game that requires a greater skill level than many others.
Once you've finished the game there are expeditions to complete, though my son hasn't yet done any - and I may never get the opportunity! - so I can't comment on them.
The scenery is beautiful, and the voice actors do a great job of bringing characters to life so playing or watching is a cinematic experience. There are plenty of breaks during gameplay during which the story evolves so it's a game people can actually enjoy watching others play while still becoming emersed in the story. (Unless the player is me, in which case it's an apparently infuriating experience.)
I'm glad I bought this game and feel the price I paid (£30 new from Amazon) was very fair considering the work that must have gone into production. It certainly sets the bar high.
Half a star docked for lack of realism in terms of some of Lara's physical abilities.
What I love about this game is how intuitive the movement is, it's like the game knows what you meant to do so you don't have to 100% aim your jumps accurately etc. There is a much lower chance of missing the jump and falling to your death like there is in other games like the poor man's ROTTR (Uncharted).
The graphics are simply amazing, the voice overs do not sound robotic and match the environment perfectly. The story had me gripped all game with proper characters that you liked or even hated. The puzzles that need to be solved aren't the hardest but were still fun to do.
Highly recommend this game despite completing it in 2 weeks.
Good mix of story, puzzles and combat. Difficulty is sensible (and adjustable in options). Gameplay is smooth. Controls a generally very responsive. Camera view is good and usually unobstructed. Graphically very pretty.
