Product Description

In her first adventure, Lara Croft was forged into a true survivor, but she glimpsed a deeper, secret world. In the next chapter of her journey, Lara must use her survival skills and wits, learn to trust new friends, and ultimately accept her destiny as the Tomb Raider. Rise of the Tomb Raider builds upon the formula that made Tomb Raider a success, and features the return of Camilla Luddington as Lara Croft. Luddington will take character performance to new heights as Lara pushes herself beyond human limits and is confronted with what it means to become a hero. Once again, Crystal Dynamics is proud to have the award-winning author Rhianna Pratchett as a key member of the writing team, helping craft a story that delves into Lara's inner turmoil and motivations in this critical second act of her journey.

Wow. I played the demo, and being a lover of the " Far Cry" genre, I was hoping this was similar. It is. The surroundings are beautiful, gameplay a little tricky for a 63 year old but ok. I have only played 13% so far but love it. You need a brain and sometimes I feel a little "well how do I do that!" But that is part of the experience. I especially like the fact that you have (and can with fast travel) go back to revisit previously visited areas to re-explore, retry, problems and tasks that were not possible until skills sets, tools, weapons were obtained. Downsides? She keeps moaning about the cold but her life force stays the same. And I cannot find her jacket. Also I has no idea how to find tomb entrances, but that may come later. My packaging came with no instruction manual , so I am somewhat blind. But these are little moans and do nothing to detract what is a great game not even the los of half a star.

Only spent around 10 hours on this game but so far it is simply sublime! It's visually stunning with a compelling story line. With the amount of open word games that have came out recently I have been somewhat fatigued by them, with huge open worlds, so much to collect, side missions, story etc, and simply do not have the time to get through them all. This however is a manageable open world, where everything you do feels like it has a meaning. From the incredibly detailed challenging tombs, to hunting, finding collectibles etc. They all have meaning, in which makes me really want to explore everywhere! The upgrade system is great, as it focuses on Lara and her weapons and each upgrade is very much noticed. The combat is great and smooth so far, no bugs or glitches. Overall there is far to much to mention, it's great so far and I hear the game only gets better and better as you progress. Recommend this to anyone.

A stunningly beautiful game with epic scale and brutal combat. The game is emotional, beautifully written and just incredibly well made. If you loved the previous one, well, you are going to love Rise of the Tomb Raider way more as it is a vastly better game. Experience the legend within indeed.

I'm an old school Raider so it's always tough with these new games, I loved and it kind of reminds me of Assassins Creed with a bit of Res thrown in as you'll be shooting nests down and other familiar bits taken from these other games and Lara's movements are someone Ezio-like. 100% enjoyment factor though, the graphics are stunning as are the audio's and unlike the previous CD instalments, I never spotted one missing textures, although Lara did get stuck inside a few objects. Now awaiting the DLC.

I bought this for my son for Christmas. He'd never played Tomb Raider previously and was pleasantly surprised by all aspects of the game. It's now one of his favourites.

The graphics are brilliant so game play is very realistic, and the story is interesting enough to have convinced me to have a go - the first time I've played a console game since the days of Crash Bandicoot!

Unfortunately, being entirely useless at such things, I'm still stuck in Siberia trying to kill a bear - and on the easiest level of game play! Even my son, a fairly skilled gamer, took a couple of weeks playing for an hour each evening to complete the game on the second difficulty level - there are four - so it's a game that requires a greater skill level than many others.

Once you've finished the game there are expeditions to complete, though my son hasn't yet done any - and I may never get the opportunity! - so I can't comment on them.

The scenery is beautiful, and the voice actors do a great job of bringing characters to life so playing or watching is a cinematic experience. There are plenty of breaks during gameplay during which the story evolves so it's a game people can actually enjoy watching others play while still becoming emersed in the story. (Unless the player is me, in which case it's an apparently infuriating experience.)

I'm glad I bought this game and feel the price I paid (£30 new from Amazon) was very fair considering the work that must have gone into production. It certainly sets the bar high.

Half a star docked for lack of realism in terms of some of Lara's physical abilities.

One of my all time favourite games.

What I love about this game is how intuitive the movement is, it's like the game knows what you meant to do so you don't have to 100% aim your jumps accurately etc. There is a much lower chance of missing the jump and falling to your death like there is in other games like the poor man's ROTTR (Uncharted).

The graphics are simply amazing, the voice overs do not sound robotic and match the environment perfectly. The story had me gripped all game with proper characters that you liked or even hated. The puzzles that need to be solved aren't the hardest but were still fun to do.

Highly recommend this game despite completing it in 2 weeks.

What can you say? Very similar to the last Tomb Raider game, so if you liked the last one and want 'more of the same' you'll probably like this one. If its not broken, don't fix it.

Good mix of story, puzzles and combat. Difficulty is sensible (and adjustable in options). Gameplay is smooth. Controls a generally very responsive. Camera view is good and usually unobstructed. Graphically very pretty.
