In a world of two communities trying to live side by side there are bound to be casualties.

A small boy, as much a victim as the beloved mother whom he has lost, he is afforded no mercy or peace by his tyrannical father. This book describes clearly and in great detail, the emotion of an unloved and ultimately abused child, whose father is unable to bear the grief he is burdened with.

From the ashes rises the Phoenix ..... For this child seeks to survive, to thrive and to endure. Torn between the hate for his wolf and the desire he has to be part of that other world, resisting his natural urges he is expelled by one community and yet undiscovered by the other.

His salvation arrives, at the point of no return, in the form of Cade. His saviour, his guide and his carer.

Mason Sabre has captured such emotion; hurt, grief, love and loneliness. Taking you on a journey of discovery, a wonderful story, it gripped my heart, I didn't want it to let go .... Thank you Mason, it was astoundingly beautiful.

Mason Sabre's newest entry into the Paranormal/Urban genre is a heartbreaking story of a 13-year old boy who believes he caused his mother's death. He is brutally evicted from his home and wanders for days, scavenging for food, denying the Other inside him who is trying to take over. His search for a place to belong is sad and filled with longing and left me in tears. I understand there is more to come in this series, introducing Others, like the boy. I hope he finally finds the society in which he fits.

This is the beginning of a series. It's not an exaggeration to say that this book broke my heart. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, though. So, in saying that my heart was mended upon completion of the story is completely true. I'm not emoting when I say that there were happy tears at the end. I would recommend any and all of Mason Sabre's books. To be able to pull the raw emotions from the reader is, I believe, the sign of a brilliant Author. Five Stars ✨

OMG, I couldn’t wait to read this book. The Author did an excellent job keeping us entertained with little teasers in the run up to its release.

Without giving away any spoilers, a teenager, in what can only be described as an act of stupidity gets himself infected by a wolf’s bite……This in turn leads to a tragic set of events and he becomes an outcast.

Alone and coming to terms with his other self, he must learn to fend for himself and deny the hunger growing within.

I especially loved the ending of this book, and when he uttered those immortal words I wanted to fist punch the air.

Please, please, please don’t make us wait too long for the next novella.

The Rise of the Phoenix is a short introduction to a new series, Phoenix is a young boy trying to come to terms with his new situation, and the loss of his mum and being outcast by his family, The author is brilliant in that his words pull you into the story, it give you feelings of sadness and sorrow for the boy, but at the end of the book also a little hope.
I waited as long as i could to read this as i get very impatient waiting the next ones but i read teasers etc and couldn't wait any longer, i read it in one night as i couldn't put it down, hopefully book 2 should soon follow.
Well done Mason another gripping, entertaining story, can't wait to see what happens next!!

Loved this book, even though it's short you fall so hard for the main character so quick! You don't even know what he's done but you already know he's a good kid. I liked the whole ambiguity at the beginning made it fun to try and work out what happened, all the while your heart is breaking! You need the next one lined up because there's no way you can just leave this book. It's funny how you end up siding with main characters and completely hating all the humans. It's funny that if it was real, it's probably exactly accurate of how humans would deal with it. Definitely reading Cade next!
