Inflating your tyres correctly will save you money

Ensuring your tyres are at the correct pressure will optimise your vehicles efficiency and reduce your fuel costs. Tyres are the only point of contact your vehicle has with the road.

Correctly inflated tyres ensure maximum road handling for safe journeys. Correctly inflated tyres also reduce the wear on tyres, so prolonging their life and saving you additional monies.

Ring RAC630 Automatic Digital Air Compressor with LED Light

Long Power Cable

The power cable, which plugs directly into your 12v DC socket (cigarette lighter socket) stretched to its full length, is 3.3 metres. This extra long cable makes moving around your vehicle to check and adjust your tyre pressure a quick and easy task.

LED Light

The compressor has a built-in white light to help find your tyre valve at night as well as a red light to alert other drivers if you have to inflate your tyre on the roadside at night.

Awful quality. Broke after 5 months.
All good initially. Pressure measurement was a little ropey, but for the price, wasn't expecting much.Broke completely in 5 months. Took it apart and the motor inside had broken off its housing and a wire had embedded itself in the fan which then stripped the sleeving from the wire and it tangled in the fan blades.Very, very poor build quality. Lesson learnt I think.

Forget any other brand for aircompressors, I was tempted between this and the more expensive Micheline models, but opted for this due to its small size, and handy, neat carry bag.

I'm very particuar about my tyre pressure, I check it every week with a seperate pressure gague, and usually top up my air every 2/3 weeks.

It works very well with any measurement, PSi, BAR and KG/CM. I prefer BAR, my my Dad borrows it, and he like PSi.
Display is back light, so night time reading is easy.
Auto cut off is excellent, just set your desired pressure and you're off, you can do something else like dip your oil as the tyre inflates.
Takes up no space in the boot.
The tyre delate option is really good too, and you can deflate to an accurate level are the pressure gague on the compressor updates as your deflate.

I have this unit for over a year now, as mentioned above, I use it fairly regularly on 2 cars, and it's working just as well as the day I bought it.

My only cons would be the LED light, it's not particularly great.....it's actually fairly useless. I've a Led Lenser P7 and a Petzl Headtorch in the car at all times anyway, so the light isn't a big feature for me. But it's something to bear in mind if you are buying this compressor with the intention or relying on the provided light. It's only good enough to find your dust caps.

I found the valve connector a little bit fiddley and plastiky, unscrewing it from the tyre valve could be smoother, you do loose air, but I'm nearly certain the compressor gives a little extra air to compensate. When I check the typres with my other gague, the readings are at the desired level. Once you get the hang of it, you can minimise the air loss(as I unscrew the hose from the valve, I usually press the hose into the valve as I unscrew it, and this minimises air loss for me anyway.

As connecting the hose to the valve can be a little combersom, I'd encourage people to use a seperate pressure gague for their regular checks, and use the compressor strictly for inflating

It's a great unit, and something every driver should own! Ring owe me some commision at this stage, at least 5/6 friends & collegues have bought this unit after seeing it in action. At work, when ever anyone has a flat, I'm known as the 'guy with the pump' so it gives you a good oppotunity to rescue damzels in distress!

Purchased this years ago and still works. Very pleased to recommend.
    • Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 July 2012
This purchase followed the eventually demise of my 8 year old halfords model that had served me faithfully over the years (if a little slow to inflate).
On the basis of the hype, I did expect this Ring model to inflate a little quicker, and although probably twice the speed of my old one, it bears no comparison to the speed of the ones found at petrol stations. It is also just as loud (yes, it's LOUD) as my old model.
It is however a lot of kit for the money and does what it says on the tin, so I won't elaborate on the features already mentioned in prior reviews.
There are a lot of reviews complaining that this model packs up (or the pre-inflation digital setting feature fails) shortly after purchase, and although this might be the case, it hasn't happened to me (yet).
It does offer more technology than many other models, and on the basis of this it is more likely to go wrong (yer pays yer money, yer take yer chances)... Should it fail within a year, the 1 year guarantee & excellent Amazon customer service should carry the strain. It comes in a great little zippered bag (perfect neat fit). The ability to deflate the tyres without unscrewing the hose is also a simple yet useful feature. The way the lead wraps away is quite simple yet very quick, tidy & efficient.
The cigarette lighter socket lead is more than sufficient to inflate your 4 fitted car tyres, and I for one am glad that it is not longer (as it is just more faff wrapping more cable away). I do have a caravan, but simply have a cheapo extension lead for when I want to inflate those tyres.
A seemingly good buy, but I will update this review if it lets me down within guarantee...

UPDATE APRIL 2013: I HAVE POROBABLY ONLY USED THIS A TOTAL OF TEN TIMES, BUT THE END OF THE HOSE THAT SCREWS ONTO THE TYRE VALVE SNAPPED OFF ON ME THIS MORNING (WITHOUT ANY APPARENT STRESS BEING APPLIED TO IT). LOOKING AT THE THICKNESS OF THE PLASTIC WELDING WHERE IT HAD CLEANLY SNAPPED OFF FROM THE HOSE, IT SEEMS A MIRACLE IT HASN'T HAPPERNED BEFORE THIS.
THE BREAK WAS CLEAN, AND I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO BOTH REPAIR IT AND REINFORCE IT WITH ARALDITE & IT NOW WORKS PERFECTLY AGAIN.
IT SEEMS A RIDICULOUS WEAKNESS IN AN OTHERWISE GREAT LITTLE COMPRESSOR. STILL WORTHY OF 4 STARS, BUT JUST BEWARE (IT MIGHT EVEN BE WORTHWHILE REINFORCING THE WEAK SPOT YOURSELF POST PURCHASE), WHICH IS AN OBVIOUSLY SLIMLINE AREA JUST BELOW THE AIR RELEASE VALVE IN THE DIRECTION OF THE MAIN UNIT.

Good product. I have read mixed reviews of different tyre inflators which seem to vary a lot in both price and relaibility. I decided to go for this one as it did well in an Auto Express test and earned the "Editor's Choice" . It was reasonably priced, a convenient size and fits in a small corner of the boot of my car where there is a tie down strap to stop it bouncing about. It does the job with the minimum of fuss.

I only intend to use this for "topping up" the pressure of my tyres as I'm one of those people who checks their tyre pressures every two weeks. To this end it does the job well. It is a lot easier than using a footpump with an unreliable gauge on it and having to disconnect that to take a reading with a pencil gauge and then reconnect it etc..

      A few points to note:
      1. The power lead could be a bit longer. It was a stretch to reach one of the rear wheels on my car as the 12v outlet socket is in the central console.
      2. The inflator uses a screw on connector instead of those fiddly clamps (good thing). However it has a button behind the connector which acts as a deflation valve and it is easy to knock this and let air out when you're trying to unscrew it (minor design fault)
      3. The air hose is fiddly to fit in the case for storage.

The lights are a useful bonus feature.

Satisfait.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal para llevarlo en el maletero del coche
Reviewed in Spain on 4 December 2014
