It's a very nice jacket in good quality and i recived it very fast so no reason to complain over nothing, i can only recommend it for riders !
waist. Normally those measurements would equate to a British size Large.
This coat is slightly undersized but I ordered an XL which is just about right for being able to wear a thick wool sweater underneath but I think wearing a jacket underneath would be out of the question for me.
It is a little snug around the neck when fully zipped up which is not unusual with this kind of coat and wearing a thick wool sweater with a button up funnel neck makes it slightly uncomfortable for me but that is a personal thing that doesn't seem to worry other people.
I bought this coat as a dog walking coat. It is very cheap but it's construction is of a good quality for the price paid. The material is a fine Oxford weave nylon with an interior PU coating which makes it quite heavy. There is no evidence that seam welding or taping has been used in its construction so I wouldn't expect the coat to remain fully watertight at the stitched seams under sustained rainfall over a period of more than half an hour although it is most definitely windproof.
In addition, there is no DWR coating on the outside surface of the coat, as is demonstrated by the outside of the material wetting out immediately when exposed. to light rain. However this is somewhat irrelevant since the inner coating of the material is waterproof PU but it does mean the coat will get a little heavier in wet weather.
The length is good but the lower hem just coincides with tops of my knee high wellingtons which means that in the rain I have to wear my trusty old leggings/chaps to save my trousers from getting wet at that point.
The hood is basic but functional. I wear a peaked cap under it to stop water running off onto my face.
I think the retaining straps used to secure the lower skirt of the coat to the legs to stop it blowing up in windy weather would have been better for having press stud fastenings rather than the Velcro that is used, but that's just nitpicking on my part.
Please don't expect breathability at this price, it just can't happen and the material used is a reflection of the price, a fair reflection at that. This means, of course, that if you exert yourself enough to work up a bit of a sweat you are going to get condensation which in turn means you will end up a little damp, no ifs, no buts. A gentle stroll, walking the dog perhaps, in the rain and you'll be OK. This is not, nor is it meant to be, a high performance waterproof.
This review may come across as being a little negative but it shouldn't be seen that way. Expectations of a coat like this at this price should not be high but, honestly, mine has very much exceeded expectations in build and function. It is a very good coat for the money and, bearing in mind how inexpensive it is, it is worthy of four stars.
Excellent buy - price was amazing as the product is top quality. A substantial piece of waterproof clothing for that classic country look......a great buy...
