Review

"What can a book written in the 1920s tell modern investors about their finances? A whole lot if it's George Clason's delightful set of parables that explain the basics of money. This is a great gift for a graduate or anyone who seems baffled by the world of finance and a wonderful, refreshing read for even the most experienced investor."--Los Angeles Times

I am the type of person who gets his wages paid in to his bank account and then the following day, they are all gone, and I wonder why I never have any money!

My financial literacy dervies completely from this book. There is a new updated version of this book however I had no difficulty reading this version despite some of the language being archaic.

The book teaches many principles on managing money through the telling of stories/parables. Not only is the advice excellent but the stories are really interesting too.

One of the main themes of the book is that 'a part of all you earn is yours to keep.' This essentially means saving and as a general rule of thumb it recommends using 70% of your income for living expenses, 20% to pay debts and 10% to save. It sounds blindingly obvious but it's sound advice which I have spent a lifetime neglecting to use, spending all my money straight away on consumable items that don't provide any sort of return for my investment.

If you are already financially literate then I doubt you will learn anything new from this book but nevertheless it is still a great read. If like me, you never seem to have any money in the bank account, then this book will be a huge wake up call and will help you to realise the errors of your ways.

As soon as I start full time work next year following completion of a post-graduate course, I intend to start using the principles the book has taught me straight away.

YES! Since reading this I understand how to be wealthy....I just realise I had never tried before. I tried to do a good job, to get promoted, to get more money, but always found new bills to pay.

This book is a poetic way of teaching through storytelling. Easy to read, charming and impactful.

I now think much more long term, I have savings and my whole relationship to money has changed.

Its perhaps "obvious" tips.... BUT somehow the way it is presented makes it go deep and allows you to really take on board the lessons told.

This is a book you will wish you had read when you thought you knew everything in your teenage years. It is, without a doubt, a book that has changed my life because it has changed my relationship with money.
There is no basic premise to this book. The only words that I can find to define what it is, is that it is a foundation stone, upon which you can and will build a great financial future if you adhere to the advice.

This book is a philosophical/practical guide to wealth creation. The book in a sense tells a story. Interwoven into this story are anecdotes, which contain messages. Within the messages are real meanings that when applied to your life and wealth, will create profound change.

I would have to disagree, with some people who say that this is the only book you will ever have to read, on the subject of money. I would recommend that you also read; The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D Wattles, Born Rich Bob Proctor, Financial Peace by Dave Ramsay..if in debt & Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz, as wealth creation will also need new subconscious thinking. With these books you will create a financial fortress, that will amaze you. I guarantee it.

This book is a brilliant synopsis of timeless ideas, that is a must read for anyone who has set a goal of financial independence. It is both a practical, spiritual and philosophical guide to wealth creation. It should be read in conjunction with the other recommended books. If it is, it will change your financial future forever. Brilliant.

A very thought provoking book, that must put into action. It provides the simple truths and tools that many wealthy men have used to get to where they are today.
At least 10% of what you earn, is yours to keep.
20% to pay your debts
70% to live on.
Do not shy away from work! But work hard and let your money work for you! Invest wisely. Plan for your future.

Have just started reading the book. It seems fantastic, however so far has not met expectations from other reviews and recommendations.

The story line is interesting, however in my opinion starts of slightly boring and not too exciting. As i continue reading it does get my interesting and has some fantastic advice and skills to learn.
The wording of the English is quite old which can be off putting for me as an 18 year old.
But so far seems great and worth reading.

This book only has 102 pages and is very quick to read. Easily the best book I have read to date. If you can follow the stories and understand the true meaning behind them and what they represent, this book will change your life. I have come across some of the messages, but this really puts things into perspective. I've already started sharing this book with close friends and family.

This book was recommended. I enjoyed it but there was nothing in it that I hadn't read elsewhere. It's not a long book so won't take too long to read.
