Richard Sotnick is a former Lord Mayor of Portsmouth and was Senior Partner of a law firm in Hampshire. His first book, The Coburg Conspiracy: Royal Plots and Manoeuvres was published in June 2010. This historical exploration of the current monarchy through the ancient house of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha took wings after a conversation with Lord Mountbatten in 1975. During his extensive research for the book, Sotnick had to learn German and the gothic script in order to read original documents only made available to the public after the reunification of Germany.
His second book, Retribution, will be published in June 2013. This action-packed legal and political thriller draws on Sotnick's extensive experience of the British judicial system and large-scale corporate corruption.
Sotnick is married and lives in North London. He has three daughters and two grandsons. When he is not writing, he enjoys sailing and walking. His is also a lover of classical music, his enthusiasm for which led him to set up an International String Quartet Competition with Yehudi Menuhin as artistic director in 1977.
