I hadn't had the opportunity to read anything by Zoe Adams, before this tour. When I did the Blitz for this book, I just had to sign up. I read about it as I prepped the post and thought it sounded excellent!
The story is based around two characters, one a song-willed widow and the other a cocky billionaire. I am fairly certain that the premise of the story is something women joke about, perhaps not with widowed part, but loads of ladies jokingly talk about if they were divorced/or being divorced and finding a sexy billionaire who would drop everything to be with them. This is that story.
I thought the flow of the story was good. At some points it lost a bit of its momentum, but other times it was so brilliant, it easily made up for these. I found the rattlesnake bite a bit odd, as it reminds me of watching caving or climbing films and seeing someone make a move or mistake that just wouldn't happen. However, snakes are a real and true danger, so I guess she was just unlucky...or very lucky, after what followed.
I liked that the female lead was strong and defiant, not read to fall into the mould of just throwing herself at the rich man in front of her. I found it refreshing. It was also funny to read as he then proceeded to throw himself at her. We all want what we can't have!
This book was really good. I enjoyed reading it, and found a lot of it fun and refreshing. It is a quick read that a lot of romance readers would enjoy. I recommend giving it a go.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Susanna is a widow who had married and went to the city and then returned to life on a ranch after her husband passed away. She takes care of the ranch and works very hard, almost to obsessive. She loves what she does and it shows. She also has an exotic oasis she made on the ranch that shows off her feminine side. It has open space and a large bear claw tub right out in the open with everything imaginable for a peaceful moment.
Royce is a scientist, an extremely and utterly rich scientist who works with gold and precious metals and gems. He even has things around with gold and gems in them that aren’t practical but that doesn’t seem to matter to him. He runs into Susanna one night while drunk and has a run in between his motorcycle and a deer. Royce won but both the motorcycle and the deer lost. Susanna witnesses it and helps him in making sure he is okay.
Royce is immediately smitten by her. She is beautiful and a hard worker and he continues to become glued to her while trying to woe her. He shows that even though he is rich, he isn’t afraid to get himself dirty and helps her on the ranch so he can spend more one on one time with her. The more time they spend together the more they like each other. He has purchased the gold mine in town and has plans for it to be reopened.
Then when she gets bitten by a rattlesnake, she is unable to work for many weeks while recovering. So, he takes her on an exotic vacation to everywhere and to do everything imaginable. Of course, that includes lots of time for skin on skin. He already knows she is the woman for him forever and constantly tells her so.
So, this story tells all there goings and comings mixed with a little mystery. Susanna is a no nonsense girl who can certainly take care of herself and likes a solitude life. Royce loves that about her too. The sex was mostly implied, not graphic at all but you knew there was a lot of it! So, don't let the cover foul you if that's what you are looking for!
What I didn’t like was that it ran slow for me. It just seemed like a long book on vacation with very little mystery or something that makes me really want to turn the page to find out what happens next. I understand Royce’s lifestyle since he was also born that way, but I didn’t think Susanna being the independent and hard working Susanna would just jump right into without a little fight. If she did, I missed it.
Royce’s words seemed almost robotic without any contractions in his verbiage. It almost graded me.
But overall, it was a fun book to read and dream of having that lifestyle for myself! LOL
There were times that I wanted to see Royce be more personable. He seemed standoffish at times, but I do believe that it was due to his upbringing and his wealth. He kept Susanna so protected and to himself that I felt like he was smothering her. But…that did seem to work for them and they fell in love, a true love. Susanna went from being an independent rancher to someone who didn’t even pick out her own clothes. I wish she would have stood up against Royce now and then, just to add some spark and confrontation to their relationship.
This was a fun book to read. There were good parts that kept me reading. There were some things I wish had been different, but I enjoyed reading Rich Love.
This is my first read by Zoe Adams and I found it to be a simple and pleasing romance novel. The momentum at times was rather slow and predictable, but it was a decent read read.
