About the Author
Roald Dahl, the best-loved of children's writers, was born in Wales of Norwegian parents. After school in England he went to work for Shell in Africa. He began to write after 'a monumental bash on the head', sustained as an RAF pilot in World War II. Roald Dahl died in 1990.

Like everyone else in the world, we love Dahl at our house. I used to read his books as a child, then as a teen and young adult, into the more sinister and more adult content. I bought this as a poetry book for my young son, but thankfully flicked through it before gifting it to him, and realised that the content is quite raunchy and inappropriate for kids (not to mention sexist - probably a sign of its time). I am not sure who its target audience is because as an adult reader I have no interest in reading humourous poetry with sex jokes in, perhaps the reason it's one of his lesser known publications.
