Product Description

Following his top-selling debut DVD release in 2009 and sensational performances on Live At The Apollo, and Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, multi-award winning comedian Rhod Gilbert is back!

Here, Rhod brings us his unique brand of observational comedy focussing on life’s minor exasperations. Stung by accusations that he over-reacts, Rhod sets out on an emotional rollercoaster of a journey to discover the truth. Is he, as he believes, a visionary in a sea of closed minds, or has he, as everyone else believes, got anger-management problems?

I was at the DVD recording for this show, and can guarantee that if only half of the set that Rhod performed makes it onto the DVD then it will be worth watching. For fans of his first DVD, this is a must buy, and I recommend it to any comedy lover anywhere. Despite having some bad press about being 'too cynical', which is a point I can understand, I still think this man is hilarious, and worth buying for oneself, or as a present to any comedy lover.

Just got home from watching this show live at Dartford theatre, it was absolutely hilarious from start to finish and I can't wait for the release of this DVD to re-live it all over again, if you loved the award winning mince pie show then this is a must buy for any fan of this comic genius

I was in the audience when Rhod recorded the dvd and I have never laughed so much at Rhod's rants on life's irrations! Does anyone know the difference between bio and non-bio washing powder? Why do we need rinse hold or time delay on a washing machine? Why does a hoover need variable power when we've never considered anything less than full power? Briliant!! It was an absolutely fabulous night and I will be ordering this DVD now (especially to see if I'm on it!!)

I thoroughly enjoyed his first DVD, but this one just didn't grab me in the same way. Perhaps the angry rants just weren't quite as funny this time around but he's still one of the best in the business.
If you havent seen "the award winning mince pie" or are new to Rhod's work then considerable chunks of the show won't make sense. If you're thinking of buying, get "mince pie" first, then this one.

I thoroughly enjoyed his first DVD, 'The Award-Winning Mince Pie', and I can safely say that if you enjoyed it too, then you'll like this as well, but I must admit I didn't find it quite as good as the first one.

Rhod likes to have a bit of a story under his comedy, which worked really well in the first one. He's done the same here - in fact it's a kind of 'sequel' to the first one - but I think it's gone a bit too far. The rants and raves about 'trivial' things too, while still funny, are over the top.

Of course, the over-the-topness of his rants make sense at the end of this story, which I won't spoil (this is the first time I can say there are spoilers to a stand-up comedy DVD!), and it all links together very cleverly, but I didn't find myself laughing out loud as much I would have liked. In fact in some bits it gets quite dark and serious.

Basically, if you want a straightforward 'funny man' who tells jokes and has big laughs, this maybe isn't for you. But if you want to hear a VERY funny story from a larger-than-life character that will reward repeat views to see how it all links up, this is right up your street.

As great Rhod Gilbert fans and having watched this episode on TV we were delighted to find a DVD of this performance. We found it as hilarious as the first time of viewing and no doubt will watch it again many times in the future. Thoroughly recommended.

having seen this tour live, i knew what to expect. rhod gilbert is his usual hilarious self, a poor man lost in a world that doesn't understand him, and only serves to confuse him....a tale of life's petty irritations causing mental distress in the funniest way possible - buy this, go see him, he's brilliant.

Rhod Gilbert is the antithesis of Jimmy Carr, Stewart Francis, et al. He can take a trivial subject and rip on it for 5 full minutes. Rhod takes the storytelling approach to stand up where he lays a foundation of gags upon a story that builds to a rapid-fire payoff at the end. In that way it's pretty similar to last year's Mince Pie show but TCLLNL is even more blatantly farfetched. Take Mince Pie and multiply the ludicrousness by 10. He takes the average sounding premise of having a really rough year and winds up with how hypnotism helped him to recall his childhood traumas. Yet it's all tied into the title of his show no matter how many times he says it's a complete misnomer at the beginning of the DVD and on national radio.

There's a slow patch towards the beginning where it looks like we're going to be subjected to his exasperated rants on appliances, but once done with Hoovers and washing machines he's right on track for the remainder. In amongst all the one-liner and observational comedians with DVDs out this year, Rhod Gilbert's storytelling approach is a welcome change.
